The Luminous Paradise of Chang Li-Yeh
\nEthereal Bloom – The Luminous Paradise of Chang Li-Yeh presents a radiant world where blossoms shimmer in divine light and fantastical creatures roam under deep blue skies. Inspired by his painting Blossoming Tree\, this exhibition captures the sacred beauty and fleeting sorrow of life at its most vibrant. \nFeaturing works from the past decade\, including the series Butterfly Man\, Fairy Tale Paradise\, Animism and Aura\, the show traces Chang’s journey from whimsical dreamscapes to spiritual utopias. Alongside these are his early newspaper per illustrations and expressive series like Self-Portrait and Social Outcast\, revealing a transformation from raw\, intuitive forms to intricate\, symbolic compositions. \nCurated by Huang Chih-Wei\, the exhibition explores the idea of “ephemeral dreams”—moments that sparkle and vanish like morning dew. In worlds filled with playful monsters\, sacred animals\, and floating blossoms\, time stretches and folds. Ethereal Bloom invites visitors to wander through Chang’s luminous landscapes and glimpse the artist’s innermost visions of joy\, loss and renewal. \nChang Li-Yeh was born in Chiayi. He graduated from the Department of Sociology at Soochow University in Taiwan. In his youth\, he developed a love for reading and writing literature and poetry. Like many budding artists\, he enjoyed doodling and habitually filled every blank space in his textbooks\, which ultimately became an indelible “bad habit”. This tendency shaped his subconscious\, leading to the brimming\, compact imagery found in his paintings today. Perhaps it is precisely this “bad habit” that contributes to the unique characteristics of his work. \nChang’s early works centered on social issues\, portraying the struggles of marginalized communities. His Betel Nut Beauty series explored the objectification of young women in Taiwan’s industrial cities\, while Landslide reflected on climate change and ecological destruction. These works captured the raw\, often surreal contradictions of human nature and politics. \nIn recent years\, his focus has turned inward\, exploring the subconscious. He reimagines the body and soul as a microcosm of emotions\, memories\, and desires. His figures morph and flow\, their limbs entwined with mountains\, rivers\, and blooming landscapes—an intimate fusion of self and nature. In the Butterfly Man series\, he reflects on love\, longing and memory\, while the Small Universe series builds a connection between the body and the natural world\, creating a sanctuary where every tree\, stream\, and peak resonates with harmony.\n\n仙樹，2020，162 X 226cm，油彩、畫布 \n\n蝴蝶人-5，2014，112 X 145cm，壓克力、麥克筆、畫布 \n\n萬物有靈，2016，45 X 45cm，壓克力、畫布

SUMMARY:行者十步 Footprints of the Walker：蔡明亮 Tsai Ming-Liang
\nThe Walker is more than a pilgrim through time and space\, it’s the transformation of imagery. \nIn 2011\, while rehearsing the stage play Only You\, in the monologue The Fish of Lee Kang-sheng: The Journey in the Desert\, Lee walked at an extremely slow pace for just a few meters. He shifts between the roles of Tsai Ming-liang’s father and the Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang. This movement profoundly affected Tsai. These steps both suspended and advanced the forward motion. It encapsulated the essence of the decades-long collaboration between Tsai and Lee. It also planted the seed for the open form of cinema Tsai has been nurturing. \nIf Lee’s slow walk is the crystallization of his years of collaboration with Tsai\, then The Walker series\, which they completed between 2012 and 2024\, can be seen as a grand artistic journey across disciplines\, realized through Lee ’s embodiment of a red-robed monk in slow\, deliberate motion. \nThis series includes ten films of varying lengths—No Form\, Walker\, Sleepwalk\, Diamond Sutra\, Walking on Water\, Journey to the West\, No No Sleep\, Sand\, Where\, and Abiding Nowhere—as well as the stage play The Monk from Tang Dynasty. Additionally\, it extends into cinematic exhibitions such as No No Sleep at MoNTUE －Tsai Ming-Liang Solo Exhibition\, Walker\, Tsai Ming-Liang at the Zhuangwei Dune Visitor Center and A Quest at the Centre Pompidou. Together\, they explore the fusion of film and space. \nFootprints of the Walker: Tsai Ming-Liang refers to the ten films\, pointing to this body of work inspired by the 17-year-long journey of Xuanzang in search of sutras from India. Over the past decade\, The Walker series has set foot not only in Taipei\, Yunlin\, and Yilan but also Hong Kong\, Kuching\, and Tokyo\, and extended as far as Marseille\, Paris and Washington D.C. Through long takes\, the films depict the monk’s journey outward from Taipei in meditative movement—from the inner self to the broader world. \nWithin the gallery space\, these films do not exist independently but interconnect to form an organic whole. Presented alongside paper\, sutras\, mirrors\, chairs\, sketches\, paintings\, objects\, and archival materials\, an immersive visual environment is created through multi-screen installations and video art. Light and shadow\, color and texture\, missed encounters and fateful meetings\, life and illusion\, the finite and the infinite—these elements weave together to shape the unique world of the Walker. \nFootprints of the Walker: Tsai Ming-Liang symbolizes the artistic transformation of Tsai as a director\, opening up a new cinematic pilgrimage. Imagine the ancient monk from Chang’an who\, defying the imperial decree\, set out resolutely on his westward journey in search of the Dharma. Similarly\, Tsai uses film as his scripture\, moving between cinema\, theater and exhibition spaces\, continuously  searching beyond spatial\, media\, and artistic boundaries—to carve out a Walker’s path that gazes upon time itself.

SUMMARY:Reflection：想法的實相世界 The Reality of Thought｜七人聯展 Seven-Person Group Exhibition
\n昔日的夢想 化為現實 生活著 \n\n\n現實 化為昔日的夢想 生活著 \n—希望之路，p.74 \n“Reflection” signifies the return and projection of energy. It can refer to a mirrored image\, an expression\, or a deep\, deliberate contemplation. There exists a dynamic interplay between the external world and an individual’s inner thoughts. What we see and hear shapes what we think and how we act; conversely\, our actions and words often reveal our inner world. Just as a face is reflected in water\, so a person’s heart reflects the person. (Proverbs 27:19) \nTo live is to think and feel. As we journey through life\, we face waves of anxiety\, frustration and disappointment. Yet after the storm\, we also experience calm\, joy\, accomplishment and a sense of peace. Along this path\, artistic creation becomes the fruit of careful thought—manifesting chosen themes and stylistic expressions. Whether through abstract brushstrokes and color blocks\, figurative portraits and objects\, flowing images\, or hand-drawn lines\, these works are a reflection of constant self-exploration amidst life’s challenges and the persistent pursuit of growth and elevation through everyday reflection. \nThe world’s political and economic climate parallels the challenges of individual and family life. Just as the world influences people\, so too can people influence the world. Everything has its order\, and that order is from God. As we dedicate ourselves with sincerity and effort\, God blesses us in return. Our actions shape what we receive. Reflection is not only the reality of thoughts\, but also the assurance of faith in life. May this exhibition allow you to experience a reflection of God’s love\, the stirring of the Holy Spirit\, and the peace of the Son\, Jesus. \nYesterday’s dreams have become today’s reality—alive in life.Today’s reality becomes yesterday’s dreams—alive in life.—from The Road of Hope\, p.74 \n開放時間 Opening Hours：週二–週日 Tuesday to Sunday 09:00 – 17:00（週一、端午節休館 Closed on Mondays and Dragon Boat Festival）展期最末日開放至14:00 Open until 14:00 on the final day \n費用 Fee：免費 Free

How did I become who I am today? \nIn every “hand in hand” relationship\,we are shaped bit by bit and gradually become ourselves. \nSometimes we try so hard to live up to expectations\,yet we hardly know who we really are.Sometimes we play a role others want to see\,until a quiet moment comes\, and we ask:“Do I truly like the person I’ve become?” \nHand in Hand｜Photography Joint Exhibition captures powerful scenes of relationships in life. The extended dialogue event—“Who am I? How did I become who I am today?”invites you to reflect alongside a positive psychology coach. \nThrough storytelling and psychology\,we’ll revisit the moments that shaped us\,and understand how we became our current selves. \nThis conversation will be gentle\, honest\, and heartwarming. It’s a chance to finally hold hands with yourself. \nLet us\, through the lens of photography and the depth of the mind\,rediscover love\, and see the better version of ourselves once again.

SUMMARY:Lili Deli
\n“Lili Deli” is about to open its door at the art museum. This unique “store” is built upon a foundation of pressed waste paper cubes and intentionally avoids familiar additives and chemical seasonings. It replaces cheap melamine\, plastic tableware and durable stainless steel with unstable mild-steel tables that are prone to rust\, bronze fish bones\, air-dry broad bean pods and shellfish that are oxidising\, unframed photographs\, fragile glass\, recycled cans\, thermal paper with fading text\, and packaging materials that are difficult to preserve. The artist chooses to use non-traditional\, organic materials\, carefully assembling the remnants of consumer behaviour into various sculptural installations. These works reflect the modern era’s pursuit of low cost\, efficiency\, convenience\, and practicality while moving forward with the flow of collective unconsciousness. \nWithin the exhibition\, there will also be a “Tower of Freebies Project”\, inviting visitors to bring an unwanted promotional item from home to create a collaborative tower on-site. This initiative aims to build a stage for the revival of surplus items produced as a result of consumption stimulation. (2022)。 \nSteph Huang’s multidisciplinary practice investigates mass production and commerce\, the transcultural and historical dimensions of the food industry\, and the implications of such markets on modern lifestyles and natural environment.
——盧卡斯．塔沃柯夫斯基（Łukasz Twarkowski） \n✶ The Grand Theater Opens for the First Time! Join a thousand participants on an epic stage. \n✶ A 6-hour immersive party—experience close interactions with artists and create unforgettable moments together. \n✶ A utopian realm where electronic music\, video art\, and live performances collide. \n“I found absolute freedom in rave.” \nRespublika is a commotion\, a coup\, a sharp sword\, the whisper of the forest and tsunami in techno music\, the half-dismantled film studio set\, the self-rotation of a theatre\, the ambition to build a town out of thin air\, the realm for the exiles\, and the machine of reflecting audience’s inner desire. \nTaipei Performing Arts Center will connect its Grand Theater and Blue Box to form the massive-scale Super Theater for the independent nation built by Łukasz Twarkowski\, who leads a band of artists and mobilizes over a hundred of people to establish the “Respublika” (republic) which Plato would have endeavored to expel.  The concept comes from “The Pavlov Republic” in the late 18th Century\, where its founder\, a catholic priest\, gathers 800 peasants to form a community with its own army\, currency\, theatre\, school and some kind of medical healthcare system.  As a utopia unmaterialized\, “The Pavlov Republic” still provides an admirable inspiration. \nWhen humans face pandemic threats\, with assurance abolished and authority invalidated\, life becomes more suspicious than ever and suddenly finds it in a matrix-like world of flooded images.  The pursuit of freedom thus brings more suffering.  Since when have we lived in a future which has already happened? \nŁukasz continues with the question: what will happen if we can forget about work for a whole year? \nFor the founding of Respublika\, Łukasz interviewed over a hundred of artists from theatres across Europe. The final group\, 15 people in total\, included actors\, composers\, set designers\, costume designers\, playwrights and DJs\, who joined Łukasz in this experimental project to create an isolated community in a Lithuanian forest. Eventually\, the experiment failed with the dissolution of the community; and another few years later\, since the world became increasingly chaotic\, the community members finally realized the significance of what they experienced during that time\, so they agreed to produce a stage performance to conclude a possible future for humans and its existential purpose. \nRespublika builds a microscopic utopia at Super Theatre\, where you can find kitchen\, bar\, sauna\, New Orleans trailer\, spaceship\, spectator stand\, and its main stage consisting of a DJ panel and dance floor. The 6-hour immersive experience invites audience to go through its three parts from purely spectators to citizens of Respublika. The first part adopts the form of an exhibition\, allowing visitors free access to the whole space so they can know better about the geographical layout of Respublika. The second part is a combination of live performance and video installation. Visitors are given two choices: to watch it on the big screen or to experience it in the room. When the framework is completely taken down\, the audience will find themselves in the “third space”\, a mixture of screens and rooms\, characterized with a strange feeling of the juxtaposition of virtual illusion and reality. \nThe third part is a grand party: with the standing walls fully dismantled and neon lights descending\, Respublika hands the scepter of storytelling back to the audience to finish the “I want” sentence: I want faith. I want freedom. I want to dream. I want love. I want the tiny hope at the bottom of Pandora’s box. DJs\, actors\, and the audience begin to dance and move instinctively. The durational dance seems to produce nothing and goes against the values of an effort-driven capitalist society. However\, your hard work does not always bring you what you desire\, so people choose to rave as a resistance to the current helpless situation and travel back to the ancient fantasy. \nThe artist describes the future world in past tense as if it has already happened\, connecting to the immense dream-realm via techno\, rave and radio art. The DJs and performers play the music nonstop to lure those trapped in reality\, while the all-night rave party makes Respublika a temporary shelter. \nThe paradise in the dream will eventually reach reality\, turning the most splendid Garden of Eden into hell. The melody of Respublika stops playing before it becomes distorted. At that moment\, we are in an absolute trance to enjoy absolute freedom. \n\n\n\n報名 To apply：https://www.opentix.life/event/1871745884606783488

Professional Art Administration Series Courses
\nHow can visual art exert its influence in today’s society? The key lies in cross-disciplinary collaboration. One essential\, often decisive role in art creation and exhibition is Art Administration. \nAt the end of 2023\, during the “Sustainable Development Strategy for Visual Arts” roundtable\, the Association of the Visual Arts in Taiwan (AVAT) proposed the “Four-Year Co-Creation Plan” and the “Four-Year Key Plan”. Among these\, the Talent and Team Development Program is a vital step in the systematic cultivation of art administration professionals. With support from the Spring Foundation\, AVAT is launching a training initiative that combines professional coursework with hands-on experience\, aiming to strengthen the industry’s ecosystem. \nArt administration is a highly professional discipline. In various projects\, art administrators may play the roles of commissioner\, contractor or even third-party coordinator. In addition to handling budgets and logistics\, they must address unexpected situations and sometimes make critical decisions under pressure. \nHow does one demonstrate professionalism in administration? How can one communicate effectively with artists and performance teams to organize outstanding events? How can one maintain high production quality within limited resources? These practical challenges are precisely where art administrators shine. \nTo answer these needs\, AVAT is launching a professional in-person course series on art administration. The first two sessions are: \n\n\nJune 5 (Thu): Project Execution: Experience Sharing \n\n\nJune 12 (Thu): Practical Approaches to Exhibition Installation \n\n\nThese sessions are designed to help learners deepen their knowledge and skills. More courses will follow\, with a broader focus on the visual arts ecosystem\, cultivating a new generation of art administration professionals. Stay tuned! \nProject Execution: Experience SharingThis course provides insights from the perspective of art administration\, specifically focusing on the role of project management in public art projects—addressing real-world challenges and key issues encountered during execution.Topics include: \n\n\nScope of work and execution process in public art professional services \n\n\nRelevant regulations and practical considerations \n\n\nCommon challenges and solutions when serving as the local representative for artists or curatorial teams \n\n\nNote: This course does not focus on artistic creation or production. These camps aim to offer diverse and professional training experiences for children who love soccer. \nA highlight of this year’s program is the “Skills Camp”\, which will be led by Coach Tseng Tai-Lin\, head coach of Taiwan’s U23 National Team. Known for his professional and in-depth coaching style\, Coach Tseng made a strong impression during the winter camp earlier this year\, where participants showed remarkable improvement in a short time under his guidance. \nCoach Tseng noted that with summer approaching\, if kids are feeling bored at home\, the “Fun & Interest Camp” is a great option. This camp includes basic skill training\, fun scrimmages\, and teamwork challenges\, all in a light-hearted\, engaging environment that helps children develop foundational techniques and a love for the sport. A special feature this year is the participation of professional players from Taiwan’s top-tier soccer league\, who will conduct on-site training\, interact directly with campers\, and provide inspiration and first-hand insights into the world of professional soccer. \nThe “Skills Camp”\, on the other hand\, targets more advanced players\, focusing on tactical thinking and real-game application. Through intensive training sessions\, participants will be challenged to break through their limits and enhance their competitive performance. In addition to soccer training\, the camp also includes a variety of engaging activities to help students grow through challenge and find joy in learning. \nWith about a month left before the camps begin\, anticipation is building among students and parents alike. Between Social Science Empiricism and Taiwanese Historical Research: What Questions Should We Be Asking?——BOOM．磅 系列講座 Lecture Series
\nIn recent years\, the relationship between Taiwanese historical research and public readership has evolved beyond simply filling gaps in knowledge. It has gradually given rise to new questions\, methods and perspectives shaped by cross-disciplinary dialogues. Fields such as art history\, economic history\, political history\, geography\, natural history and ethnic studies have all contributed to reshaping our frameworks and scales for understanding Taiwan. This has marked a departure from outdated questions and modes of thinking\, building toward a post-martial law paradigm in Taiwanese studies. \nAmong these efforts\, Professor Yeh Kao-Hua stands out for his use of geographic information systems (GIS)\, demographic data\, and analysis of household surveys and institutional evolutions rooted in social science expertise. His research addresses widespread misconceptions in both scholarly and popular understandings. Notably\, his work sheds light on the forced relocation of Indigenous peoples during the Japanese colonial era\, as well as on frequently discussed issues concerning ethnic groups in Taiwan—such as the number of mainland Chinese migrants who arrived after 1949. Recalibrating our questions at the intersection of empirical social science and Taiwanese historical studies has become a key trend in recent scholarship. Between Social Science Empiricism and Taiwanese Historical Research: What Questions Should We Be Asking? Schumann’s Romantic Impressions
DESCRIPTION:跨越古典與現代的藩籬 \n綻放魅力 細膩演繹 \n幻化弓弦編織的燦爛篇章 \n如詩如畫 觸動無限聽覺想像 \nBridging the Classical and the Contemporary \nRadiant Charisma with Exquisite Interpretation \nA Resplendent Chapter Woven by Bow and Strings \n \n由國內知名小提琴家盧佳君與余道昌所領銜的「五度音弦樂四重奏」，將再度偕同灣聲樂團助理首席王康恬及大提琴首席李建樺兩位新生代音樂家，共同演繹浪漫新篇章！ \nLed by the acclaimed Taiwanese violinists Chia-Chun Lu and Tao-Chang Yu\, ThePerfectFifth joins forces with rising stars Kang-Tien Wang\, assistant concertmaster of the Philharmonia Moment Musical\, and Jian-Hua Lee\, the orchestra’s principal cellist\, to present a romantic musical odyssey! \nThis performance highlights Schumann’s beloved String Quartet No. 3 in A Major\, a masterpiece inspired by the works of Haydn\, Mozart\, and Beethoven. Dedicated to his friend Felix Mendelssohn\, this quartet was also a heartfelt birthday gift to his wife Clara. The piece blends Schumann’s signature elegant and playful style with a grand\, imaginative finale\, making it one of the most iconic works of the Romantic era. \nThe program also features Mozart’s String Quartet No. 21 in D Major\, characterized by its prominent cello passages and signature Mozartian grace. With its opulent and refined spirit\, this quartet has long been a favorite among classical music enthusiasts. \nAnother highlight is Villa-Lobos’s String Quartet No. 3\, a seminal 20th-century work infused with Brazilian folk elements. The piece showcases vivid harmonies and rhythms\, with the second movement featuring virtuoso pizzicato techniques\, which earned the movement the playful nickname “Popcorn” from the composer himself for its lively and spirited character. \nReturning to the Eslite Chamber Music Festival in 2025\, the Quintessence String Quartet curates a vibrant program of chamber music spanning the classical to contemporary eras. With timeless repertoire and captivating interpretations\, they promise an exhilarating auditory feast for the audience. \n｜演出 Performance｜ \n五度音弦樂四重奏 ThePerfectFifth \n小提琴／盧佳君（美國耶魯大學音樂碩士） \n小提琴／王康恬（灣聲樂團小提琴助理首席） \n中提琴／余道昌（美國馬里蘭大學音樂博士） \n大提琴／李建樺（灣聲樂團大提琴首席） \n\nViolin: Chia-Chun Lu (Master of Music\, Yale University\, USA)\nViolin: Kang-Tien Wang (Assistant Concertmaster\, Philharmonia Moment Musical)\nViola: Tao-Chang Yu (Doctor of Music\, University of Maryland\, USA)\nCello: Jian-Hua Lee (Principal Cellist\, Philharmonia Moment Musical)\n\n｜曲目 Repertoire｜ \n莫札特：D大調第二十一號弦樂四重奏，作品575 \nW.
