Touch Touch Art Exhibition
\nThe exhibition “Touch Touch Art Exhibition: A Tactile Journey Through Architectural History” will make its stop in Taipei\, curated by Fine Miner’s Pace Wu. This unique exhibition showcases the architectural history of the Pantheon in Paris through tactile relief paintings developed in France for the visually impaired\, combined with descriptive audio narratives. Dr. Ho Shih-Yun\, who previously led descriptive tours at the National Palace Museum\, is collaborating to create the descriptive audio system for this exhibition. The aim is to promote artistic equality. The visual design for the exhibition is crafted by Haeliu Design\, where the main graphic makes use of readable yet challenging text\, allowing the general audience to begin experiencing the unwelcoming environment often faced by the visually impaired through graphic design. \nThe exhibition encourages visitors to use their fingertips to explore\, transforming touch into mental imagery\, and combining it with descriptive audio to learn and experience the Pantheon. The guided tours will utilize a “tactile map” paired with a “point pen”\, enabling visually impaired visitors to explore the exhibition independently. True equality can only be realized when the environment is accessible enough for self-navigation. \nThe exhibit will feature origami-crafted darkrooms\, where visitors will experience the exhibition deprived of sight\, relying entirely on touch to reconstruct the shape of the Pantheon and to understand how its architecture\, art\, and history interact with space and time. For contrast\, the Carcassonne Castle series will be displayed in a traditional visual format. The curation replaces all visual cues with tactile design. \nThe Pantheon stands above other buildings\, bearing the marks of French history. This exhibition will delve into the architectural innovations and historical significance of Soufflot’s 18th-century project\, the first of its kind in Paris\, highlighting its structural features and innovations. The works on display will showcase the Pantheon’s exterior (plan/elevation/section) and detail its dimensions and structure. Additionally\, the intricate carvings and frescoes that adorn both the exterior and interior will be presented. The exhibition will also explore the crypt\, now the resting place of the Republic’s great figures\, with tactile representations of its spaces and history. A highlight of the exhibition will be a presentation of Foucault’s pendulum\, first demonstrated at the Pantheon\, proving the Earth’s rotation. Today\, the Pantheon serves as a venue for official and consecration ceremonies in France\, standing as a monumental record of Parisian history. Let us embark on this mental journey through the Pantheon of Paris. \n\n展覽日期 Date｜2024.8.31（六 Saturday）- 2024.9.15（日 Sunday）\n參觀時間 Visiting Hours｜週二-週五 Tuesday-Friday 11:00-18:00  週六-週日 Saturday-Sunday 11:00-19:00（休館時間：每週一 Closed on Mondays）\n展覽地點 Venue｜倏忽空間 Moment: Space 1F （台北市大同區太原路8巷3號1樓 1/F\, No. 3\, Ln. 8\, Taiyuan Rd.\, Datong Dist.\, Taipei City）\n策展人 Curator｜吳佩欣（Pace）\n報名 To apply｜https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2408090454361761975684?utm_source=EventPage&utm_medium=AdCard&utm_campaign=accu_AdCard_2408300636425979806390

Yong Tsun Ceramics — Solo Exhibition by Chiu Yung-Feng
\n“Yong Tsun Ceramics” is a unique technique developed by Chiu Yung-Feng during the early stages of his artistic journey\, inspired by the spiral shape of peeling an apple. This method is distinct from the traditional coiling technique used in clay building. A nature lover\, Chiu takes inspiration from the earth\, constantly observing geological formations and rock surfaces. He also rediscovered the traditional Chinese landscape painting technique of “cun” (wrinkle texture strokes). Through continuous experimentation and refinement\, he combined these with his internal landscapes and years of work to create the “Yong Tsun Ceramics: Walking the Mountains” series. \nUsing clay as his brush\, Chiu strives to depict natural landscapes in his forms. The layered and expressive surfaces of his works invite viewers to wander through surreal mountain and rock formations\, allowing them to sense the passage of time and the changes in nature\, embracing the long-lost beauty of simplicity and authenticity.

\nDeveloping modern application systems requires not only dealing with legacy systems but also enhancing current business processes for sustainability\, maintaining operational efficiency\, and ensuring flexibility to adapt to future business changes. \nOne of this year’s conference themes is “Legacy Workloads\,” referring to applications and systems that have been in operation for a long time but still need maintenance. These workloads often use outdated technologies\, hardware\, and platforms that may now seem obsolete and inefficient. However\, due to business process requirements\, they cannot be easily updated or discarded. These systems often face issues of stability\, dependency\, and complexity\, accumulating technical debt with insufficient technical support. \nFor example\, Stored Procedures were once widely used to improve efficiency and development time. However\, in today’s technological environment\, such designs often face maintenance difficulties\, high data dependency\, and low flexibility in adapting to business rules. Improving these issues requires not only code modification or refactoring but also changes and integration in system processes and architecture. \nLegacy workloads are like inherited family “assets.” How to handle these assets is crucial to a company’s business development\, testing the development and management of enterprise information systems: \n\n🔧 Modernization and How to Modernize: This involves balancing the stability of legacy systems with the need for updated technologies. Approaches like redesigning applications\, migrating to cloud platforms\, or adopting containerization can achieve modernization.\n🔧 Risk Management in Modernization: Ensuring that the modernization process does not disrupt business continuity and data integrity.\n🔧 Cost-Benefit Analysis: Evaluating the costs of modernizing legacy systems against the benefits of improved business value to determine the best upgrade approach.\n🔧 Technical Skill Replacement and Training: The expertise required to maintain legacy systems may become scarce over time\, necessitating training or seeking external support.\n🔧 Managing Technical Debt: Understanding the causes of accumulated technical debt in legacy systems and devising strategies to manage and reduce it effectively\, ensuring system flexibility and maintainability.\n\nIn summary\, effective management and modernization of legacy workloads are essential for long-term business development and technological innovation. It is worth every system developer and maintainer’s time to understand\, share\, and learn about these issues. \nWhat are your thoughts or insights on legacy workloads? Or what do you want to know about them? Don’t hesitate to sign up for this year’s event! \n\n💎 Learn about approaches to handling legacy workloads during major system migrations or transformations.\n💎 Hear industry insights from practitioners of Domain-Driven Design in various fields and understand the application of related soft skills.\n💎 Networking and technical learning – Meet industry pioneers and peers on the path to becoming a good problem solver\, facilitating more than just technical exchanges.\n💎 Ignite your passion and become a backbone in tackling complex legacy workloads.\n\n適合參加者 Suitable Attendees \n– 🧑‍💼 決策管理者 \n– 💻 軟體工程師 \n– 🛠️ 系統架構師 \n– 📋 專案經理 \n– 🛠️ 產品經理 \n– 🔍 系統分析師 \n– 🧪 測試品保相關人員 \n– 🎨 設計師 \n\n🧑‍💼 Decision-makers\n💻 Software Engineers\n🛠️ System Architects\n📋 Project Managers\n🛠️ Product Managers\n🔍 System Analysts\n🧪 QA and Testing Personnel\n🎨 Designers\n\n時間 Date & Time：09/13（五 Friday）09:00 – 17:00（詳情需等待後續官網公開訊息 Details will be published on the official website later） \n地點 Venue：台大醫院國際會議中心 NTUH International Convention Center（100台北市中正區徐州路2號 No. 2\, Xuzhou Rd.\, Zhongzheng Dist.\, Taipei City） \n報名 To apply：https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2406080625301381404160?utm_source=EventPage&utm_medium=AdCard&utm_campaign=accu_AdCard_2407100705301911651140 \n🚎 交通指南 Transportation Guide \n搭乘公車 By Bus \n台大醫院站：22 / 15 / 615 / 227 / 648 / 648綠 / 中山幹線 / 208 / 208直達車，步行約3分鐘即可抵達\n開南商工站（近徐州路口）：0南 / 15 / 22 / 208 / 295 / 297 / 671，步行約3分鐘即可抵達\n仁愛林森路口站（林森南路口）：295 / 297 / 15 / 22 / 671，步行約3分鐘即可抵達\n仁愛林森路口站（仁愛路口）：245 / 261 / 37 / 249 / 270 / 263 / 621 / 651 / 630，步行約5分鐘即可抵達 \nNTU Hospital Station: 22 / 15 / 615 / 227 / 648 / 648 Green / Zhongshan Main Line / 208 / 208 Express\, 3-minute walk \nKainan Commercial School Station (near Xuzhou Road): 0 South / 15 / 22 / 208 / 295 / 297 / 671\, 3-minute walk \nRenai-Linsen Intersection (Linsen South Road): 295 / 297 / 15 / 22 / 671\, 3-minute walk \nRenai-Linsen Intersection (Renai Road): 245 / 261 / 37 / 249 / 270 / 263 / 621 / 651 / 630\, 5-minute walk \n搭乘捷運 By MRT \n🗺️淡水北投線（紅線）：台大醫院站2號出口 \n->搭乘淡水信義線（紅線）至台大醫院站2號出口直走常德街，穿越中山南路後往左側直走後再右轉徐州路，步行大約6分鐘即可抵達 \n🗺️板南線（藍線）：善導寺站2號出口 \n->搭乘板南線（藍線）至善導寺站2號出口，沿林森南路往南走經青島東路、濟南路，遇徐州路右轉，步行約7-10分鐘內即可抵達 \n\nTamsui-Xinyi Line (Red Line): NTU Hospital Station\, Exit 2\n\nWalk straight along Changde Street\, cross Zhongshan South Road\, turn left and walk straight\, then turn right onto Xuzhou Road. Otomo Yoshihide & Chris Pitsiokos Live in Taipei
\nOne of Japan’s most important contemporary experimental musicians\, Otomo Yoshihide\, along with his recent collaborator Chris Pitsiokos\, will be performing in Taiwan! \nOtomo Yoshihide is one of Japan’s most significant experimental musicians of today. A student of Japan’s first-generation free jazz guitar master Masayuki Takayanagi\, Otomo has been a key figure in Japanese experimental music since forming the experimental band Ground Zero in the 1990s. In addition to his improvisational guitar performances\, Otomo also brought turntablism into experimental music\, with his work spanning jazz\, rock\, free improvisation\, and noise. After Ground Zero disbanded in 1998\, its members went on to become important figures in the international free improvisation scene. Otomo later formed the band ONJQ (Otomo Yoshihide’s New Jazz Quintet). In recent years\, Otomo has published his autobiography The Music Era I Grew Up In and has ventured into film and TV soundtracks\, scoring for productions such as Amachan\, The Long Goodbye\, and Segodon. He has collaborated with countless legends in jazz and free improvisation. \nBorn in 1990 in New York and currently based in Berlin\, Chris Pitsiokos is an improvisational saxophonist who doesn’t restrict himself to any specific musical genre\, drawing from noise\, improvisation\, free jazz\, minimalism\, and art rock. Chris explores various saxophone sounds and vocabularies\, having led or participated in over 30 album releases. Since 2018\, he has been touring with Otomo Yoshihide.
\nJyun-Ao Caesar’s musical inspiration comes from Eric Cordier and Otomo Yoshihide\, which could be summarized as a practice of “Yao Da-chun’s general concrete music theory”. His experience in signal processing\, analog amplification\, and field recording\, combined with his knowledge of space and time\, has influenced his unique performance style. Recently\, he has been searching for equipment that interacts well with his guitar\, allowing him to control changing parameters and sound illusions in real-time\, striking a balance between certainty and improvisation. \nHailing from Donggang\, Pingtung\, he has been making noise since his freshman year in college. He finds creating noise to be a joyful activity and enjoys eating\, drinking\, and buying records. His current goal is to create noise that brings happiness\, although he has not yet succeeded. Since 2022\, he has formed the noise and vocal duo “金含” with Yang Yu-Chiao. \nLoves taking walks and admiring the skeletons of trees. A specialist in oral traditional folktale performances\, he also works in the fields of narrative poetics\, comparative storytelling and cinematic narration. In 2017\, he began experimenting with sound art through projects like Anamorphosis & Anatexis and Necromantia dispersus\, blending vocal music\, free improvisation\, and oral performance. He has been involved in multiple exhibitions and performances\, and he continues his interdisciplinary work\, including collaborations with AI. \nAn illustrator at Near-Gray Studio. \n“I see images when I listen”\, is something that someone once told Anteng after a performance\, and this has led to his exploration of how sound can bypass hearing to directly create visuals\, questioning the conventional ways of perceiving sound. At the door NT$1\,000 \n報名 To apply：https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2407131030401152660300?utm_campaign=accu_banner&utm_medium=home_north&utm_source=Web \n主辦單位 Organizer \n先行一車 Senko Issha Records \n合辦單位 Co-organizer \nC-LAB 台灣當代文化實驗場 \n注意事項 Note \n＊本次表演為台灣當代文化實驗場之聲倘藝術節節目之一，請於同一空間先前節目結束後再入場。 \n\nThis performance is part of the Sound Art Festival at Taiwan C-Lab. Tracing the Spectrum and Context of Ash Glaze
\nAs materiality becomes a central focus in contemporary art and cultural studies\, and the boundaries between craft and art blur\, ceramics\, with its highly technical expertise and rich cultural heritage\, is increasingly gaining attention from art developers. For museums\, examining the material characteristics and cultural significance of ceramics offers a new perspective on art history and opens up new avenues of exploration\, making ceramics an asset for further expansion in the understanding of materials. \nThis exhibition\, based on the museum’s publication Ash Glaze: The Story and Application of Plant Ash\, traces the cultural evolution\, scientific properties\, and creative expressions of individual materials. It brings together kiln samples across time and space\, as well as works from the same stylistic lineage\, to offer both a foundation of knowledge and an opportunity to appreciate works of the same theme across eras and types. \nAsh glaze\, which transforms ash into a glassy surface on ceramics\, has a history spanning thousands of years\, from its discovery as natural falling ash to its deliberate collection and style development. It has permeated the brilliant history of East Asian civilization. Today\, ash glaze is not only studied as a material but is also explored as a spiritual and social medium. This exhibition seeks to uncover new possibilities for the expression and meaning of ash glaze by examining its material properties and its relationship to the creative process. From Discovery to Exploration \n窯爐，一個轉生宇宙。 \nThe kiln is a universe of transformation. \nInside the kiln\, clay bodies undergo physical changes as the temperature rises\, becoming harder and more durable. The flames\, air currents\, and ash inside the kiln move about\, leaving various traces on the surface of the clay. Alkaline substances from the ash of plant fuel combine with acidic substances in the clay at high temperatures\, forming a glassy surface known as ash glaze. \nThe term “glaze” itself has only been used for about 1\,000 years. However\, artificial ash-glazed artifacts date back nearly 4\,000 years to China’s Shang Dynasty. Early pottery with shiny surfaces\, both inside and out\, became more durable and water-resistant\, making them ideal for practical use. \nWith the discovery and exploration of different types of plant ash\, ash glaze evolved not only as a practical material for everyday use but also developed into a highly specialized craft in professional and imperial kilns\, becoming a significant symbol of East Asian culture. \nIn Taiwan\, the use of ash glaze has been shaped by two main influences: the traditional method of natural falling ash from wood-fired kilns and the modernized techniques brought about by industrial and educational systems. Lin Bao-jia\, who studied ceramics in Japan\, was instrumental in acquiring a scientific understanding of ash glaze. After returning to Taiwan\, he collected materials\, conducted experiments\, and provided advice to local factories and individuals. His “Taolin” studio greatly influenced many ceramic practitioners\, including Cai Rong-you\, his son-in-law Xue Rui-fang\, and Zhang Ji-tao\, who took up ceramics after retiring from the military. These individuals continued to develop their own styles and approaches to ash glaze based on Lin’s teachings\, influencing subsequent generations of creators. \nDespite the convenience of synthetic glazes\, there are still those who are deeply passionate about the vast\, unknown potential of natural falling ash and continue to challenge themselves with it. Artists like Lin Jin-zhong and Luo Shao-qi\, for example\, have experimented with local materials to establish their unique ash glaze systems\, leaving remarkable contributions to the field. \nAsh glaze can also be seen as an expression of lifestyle and value\, distinct from the rarity and exclusivity often associated with traditional imperial kilns. Throughout history\, ash glaze has served both a practical purpose and provided a direct aesthetic experience. In this section\, pioneering ceramic artists Qiu Huan-tang and Shi Nai-yue share their silver-haired years of living with ash glaze through the ash-glazed painted plates they developed\, and their daily life filled with music\, language learning\, and the joy of painting. Another couple\, Qiu Yu-qi and Guo Ya-wen\, who operate a ceramics school\, balance their farming and teaching practices\, passing on the craftsmanship they learned from veteran potters and sharing the elegance of ash glaze with the public. \nTea and ceramics have always been inseparable\, and this exhibition explores how ash glaze and tea intersect in modern life. The transformation of traditional folk kilns and collaborations between art schools and rural communities in producing ash glaze make it a vehicle for social participation\, presenting exciting possibilities for the role of ash glaze in the contemporary spectrum of daily life. \n票價 Fee：NT$80

Once navigating the fast-paced\, high-pressure environment of market trends and innovation in the tech industry\, the barista found a contrasting rhythm in the world of coffee. This shift prompted a reevaluation of career priorities\, though the two fields share more in common than it might seem. \nBoth the electronics industry and the coffee world demand a meticulous attention to detail. Just as electronic design requires precision down to the smallest component\, brewing coffee demands precise control over time\, water temperature\, and coffee grounds. This focus on detail helps career changers quickly adapt and excel in the coffee industry\, producing high-quality products. Both fields also emphasize innovation and individuality; in coffee\, unique bean sources\, roasting techniques\, and brewing methods are key to attracting customers. Choosing beans\, roasting\, and brewing techniques all require innovation and focus\, but in coffee\, there’s a serene\, immersive quality that opens the door for a career shift. Now\, as a coffee artisan\, the barista shares the rich aroma of coffee with travelers in the harbor city of Keelung\, making each visit a flavorful journey.
