Yuanshan Huguo Rinzai Temple
\nIn Taiwan\, temples are not only centers of worship and places to seek blessings but also cultural and artistic sanctuaries. They can be found in bustling city districts\, hidden within scenic mountains\, or even as the starting point of a street filled with delicious food. Some temples have evolved into social gathering spots. Thus\, planning a pilgrimage can satisfy a variety of needs\, including those related to art\, history\, entertainment\, cuisine\, and spirituality. This unique journey offers an opportunity to cleanse one’s heart and mind\, discovering a guiding light from deep within to reclaim confidence and original intentions. \n“Travel” is more than just visiting tourist spots. It is the only temple in Taiwan officially named “Huguo” (Protector of the Nation). Construction began in 1900\, with the beam raised in 1910\, completed in 1911\, and opened in 1912. It served as the root dojo for the Myoshin-ji branch of Rinzai Zen in Taiwan. In 1998\, the Main Hall and Bell Tower were designated as municipal monuments. Restoration began in 2001 with the removal of the tiles\, the beam was raised in 2007\, and the project was completed in 2008.
