Local Proposals from Okayama
\nFrom serving as art director and venue designer for a brand-new music festival launched during the 2025 Setouchi Triennale\, to the visual identity of the Okayama Art Summit\, distinctive lifestyle shops across Okayama City\, and wayfinding installations around Benesse House on Naoshima—these projects all come from the Okayama-based design company cifaka.More than just a design studio\, cifaka acts as a translator of local culture. By breaking down boundaries between disciplines\, they integrate graphic design\, spatial design\, and product development\, while also operating the café and concept shop CCCSCD. Through design\, they create compelling reasons for people to stay. \nThis talk is a rare opportunity to welcome Daisuke Sakumoto\, President of cifaka\, for their very first lecture in Taiwan. Under the theme “Stay & Design”\, Mr. Sakumoto will share how cifaka uncovers and shapes the unique charm of Okayama through a design-driven perspective\, transforming local culture into place-based proposals with both commercial value and cultural depth. \nWhat you’ll hear in this talk— \n⌂ Local Revitalization in Practice: How can design serve as a medium to activate local resources?⌂ Curation & Operations: Cross-disciplinary thinking—from art festivals in Okayama to café management.⌂ Japan–Taiwan Design Dialogue: How regional Japanese design firms survive and grow. \nWhether you’re a design professional\, a practitioner of local revitalization\, or simply someone who loves Japanese culture and travel\, this is an evening not to be missed. \n ╲  Highlight！ \nOn the night of the talk\, cifaka’s popular café CCCSCD will bring the flavors of Okayama to the venue—featuring coffee\, tea\, and selected goods—offering a firsthand experience of cifaka’s aesthetic world. \n \n〈 〈 〈 活動資訊與報名 Event Information & Registration 〉 〉 〉 \nStay & Design｜岡山的地方提案 Local Proposals from Okayama—— cifaka社長首次在台講座 cifaka President’s First Talk in Taiwan \n主講人｜cifaka社長 – 作元大輔先生\n日期｜ 2026年1月9日（五）\n時間｜19:00-20:30 \n1小時對談 / 10分鐘QA / 20分鐘會後交流 \n地點｜PAPERSKY TAIWAN store\n(台北市士林區福林路203-1號1樓 @Alife FL 右側） \n費用｜NT$500（含一杯CCCSCD飲品） \n꙳ 特別活動｜ CCCSCD Cafe 現場 POP-UP 販售（包括咖啡、茶品與選物） \nSpeaker｜ Daisuke Sakumoto\, President of cifakaDate｜ Friday\, January 9\, 2026Time｜ 19:00–20:30(60-minute talk / 10-minute Q&A / 20-minute post-talk networking) \nVenue｜ PAPERSKY TAIWAN store(1F\, No. 203-1\, Fulin Rd.\, Shilin District\, Taipei — right side of @Alife FL) \nFee｜ NT$500 (includes one CCCSCD drink) \n꙳ Special Feature｜ CCCSCD Café POP-UP on site (coffee\, tea\, and selected goods) \n報名 To apply｜https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2512190817547603543570?utm_source=Web&utm_medium=home_north&utm_campaign=accu_theme

Event Planning that Captures Attention at First Glance
❞ \n❝ Memorable events start with thoughtful planning and design. \n✓ What should an event say? How should it be presented? How do you grab attention?✓ How to integrate the theme\, content\, and pacing to create a clear and engaging participant experience?✓ Starting from strategy\, event planning is about designing how audiences understand and engage with the event. \nHow can an event attract attention and spark curiosity? In an era where information density keeps increasing and participation formats grow more diverse\, “planning skills” determine whether an event can be seen\, understood and remembered. \nFrom naming\, language\, and visuals to scenario design\, planning shapes the content while guiding the audience on how to enter\, understand and participate. 27th Graduation Exhibition “The Awakening”
\nThe 27th Graduation Exhibition of Department of Product Design\, titled “The Awakening”\, will be held on campus from April 14 to 18 at the 1st floor of Design Building\, Taoyuan Campus. The off-campus showcase\, part of the “Young Designers’ Exhibition”\, will take place from May 9 to 12 at TaiNEX 2\, 1st Floor\, Booth A-07. All faculty and students are warmly invited to visit and appreciate the works. \nThe theme “The Awakening” symbolizes the transformation of a tender larva\, tempered by countless days and nights\, finally breaking free from its cocoon to become a graceful butterfly. As the butterfly takes flight into a vast and unknown world\, it releases a subtle yet far-reaching power. These ripples\, impossible to ignore\, ultimately converge into powerful storms\, leading us through the fog toward a radiant future full of promise. \nThe exhibition’s visual identity features acidic tones and translucent textures\, abstractly interpreting the butterfly through streamlined and asymmetrical compositions. This dynamic interplay of light and form reflects the diverse visions and unique paths of each designer\, echoing the overarching theme of the “Young Designers’ Exhibition” — “Desirable Future”. \nThe showcase presents a wide range of works\, carefully curated into Zone A and Zone B\, featuring a total of 56 pieces. \n\n\nZone A: Graduation Projects — encompassing home decor\, transportation design\, green energy\, installation art\, and medical and health-related innovations. \n\n\nZone B: Craft Works — under the theme “Love and Happiness”\, students explored these emotions through their own perspectives. Using techniques such as kiln firing\, weaving\, carving and metal casting\, they created a stunning array of handcrafted artworks.

Reflections on Our UX Design Careers & Industry
\nThe term “Retreat” here signifies a space for reflection and introspection. We aim to create a small\, intimate gathering where participants can take a step back and reassess their careers and the industry. \nThe UX industry has faced major setbacks recently\, especially in Europe and North America\, with mass layoffs and a challenging job market. This is an unprecedented shift for our generation of designers. As we navigate these uncertain times\, it’s an opportunity to re-evaluate our design practices—what hasn’t been done well? How can we adjust and grow as designers? \nDuring this retreat\, we will reflect on past events\, assess our growth and prepare for the industry’s revival when the time comes. \nBeyond talks and Q&A sessions\, we will conclude with a workshop to facilitate practical discussions that resonate with participants’ experiences—ensuring a productive and meaningful conversation. \nBack in 2021\, the UX industry was thriving—new methodologies were emerging\, salary increases were frequent\, and design teams were rapidly expanding. It was an era where imagination defined the future of design. Yet\, in just two years\, everything changed. \nNow is the time for introspection—to reflect on the unrealistic ideals we once held\, the naïveté of the industry\, and even our own overconfidence. Run! With Passion\, With Fear\, Towards Excellence》Howard \n在設計工作中，學習與進步並非止步於技術的提升，而是一場持續的學習探索旅程。 \nIn the design profession\, growth isn’t just about technical skills—it’s a lifelong journey of learning and exploration. But what exactly are we exploring? Design Thinking Workshop
David Kelley \nEmpathy is the foundation of design. If you understand the needs and desires of others\, you can create better solutions.\n— David Kelley\, Founder of Stanford d.school \n  \n｜授課概要 Course Overview｜ \n設計思考初階工作坊，適合給沒有設計背景的學員來學習，它沒有課本課綱，透過史丹佛的教具教材，就可以將工作中或是生活上的各種問題，以設計師的角度來進行設計思考五步驟，就可以來解決棘手的問題！ \nThe introductory Design Thinking Workshop is perfect for participants without a design background. It doesn’t follow a strict curriculum or textbooks. Through the use of Stanford’s teaching materials and tools\, participants can approach various challenges in work or life from a designer’s perspective\, applying the five steps of design thinking to solve difficult problems! \nWhether you’re a working professional or a student\, the knowledge gained from the workshop can be applied directly to your workplace or school for practical execution. \nThe workshop is led by instructor Cha Cha\, who completed a Design Thinking course at Stanford d.school in 2016. He brings an authentic Stanford d.school experience to the table. Throughout the learning process\, participants will progress step-by-step\, gaining a clear and simple understanding of the principles of design thinking. The workshop involves game-like tasks that teach teamwork\, brainstorming\, and feedback sharing. Together\, participants will face challenges and complete time-sensitive tasks\, often achieving unexpectedly valuable results by the end! \nThis is a new type of interactive learning experience that encourages participants to roll up their sleeves and engage both their hands and minds. It ensures that ideas don’t remain as mere thoughts but are brought to life through real-world implementation. Once you’ve gone through the process\, it’s something you’ll never forget! This course is highly recommended by HR departments and educators alike. \n｜課程大綱 Course Outline｜ \n\n設計思考：認識設計思考及歷史典故\n成功案例：設計思考經典案例分享介紹\n動腦挑戰：少說大道理，直接動手做\n思考撞擊：體驗設計思考流程與步驟\n\n\nDesign Thinking: Introduction to design thinking and its historical background\nSuccess Stories: Classic examples of design thinking in action\nBrainstorming Challenges: Less talk\, more action!\nProcess Exploration: Experience the steps and flow of design thinking\n\n｜講師介紹 Instructor Introduction｜ \nInstructor Cha Cha老師\n目前為查查創意有限公司主理人及國際非營利組織Creative Mornings台北城市代表。 \nCurrently the founder and manager of Cha Cha Creative\, and the city representative of the international nonprofit organization Creative Mornings Taipei. \nHe has extensive practical experience in the cultural and creative industries\, having previously served as COO of Xuexue Cultural Creative Company. Design Thinking Workshop
\nThe introductory Design Thinking workshop is ideal for students with no design background. There are no textbooks or formal syllabi; instead\, using tools and materials from Stanford\, participants will be guided through the five steps of design thinking to tackle workplace or personal challenges from a designer’s perspective! \nWhether you’re a working professional or a student\, the knowledge gained from the workshop can be applied to real-world scenarios in your workplace or academic environment. \nThe workshop coach\, Cha Cha\, attended Stanford d.school in 2016 to study Design Thinking. She brings the essence of Stanford’s d.school courses\, using a step-by-step learning approach that helps participants easily grasp the principles of Design Thinking. Through interactive games and tasks\, participants will develop teamwork skills\, engage in brainstorming\, and share feedback. Together\, they’ll face timed challenges\, resulting in unexpected added value by the end of the session! \nThis interactive and experiential learning approach encourages participants to roll up their sleeves\, think critically\, and take action. Ideas won’t remain abstract or hidden—participants will be guided to put them into practice. Once you’ve experienced this process\, you won’t forget it! This is why HR professionals and educators highly recommend this hands-on learning workshop! \n課程大綱 Workshop Outline \n\n設計思考：認識設計思考及歷史典故\n成功案例：設計思考經典案例分享介紹\n動腦挑戰：少說大道理，直接動手做\n思考撞擊：體驗設計思考流程與步驟\n\n\nDesign Thinking: Introduction to design thinking and its historical background\nSuccess Stories: Classic examples of design thinking\nHands-on Challenge: Less talk\, more action\nThought Collision: Experience the design thinking process step by step\n\n講師介紹 Instructor Introduction \nCha Cha老師\n目前為查查創意有限公司主理人及國際非營利組織Creative Mornings台北城市代表。 \nCha Cha is currently the founder of Cha Cha Creative Co.\, Ltd. and serves as the Taipei City representative for the international non-profit organization Creative Mornings. \nShe has accumulated years of experience in the cultural and creative industries\, previously serving as the COO of Xue Xue Institute.
\nDeveloping modern application systems requires not only dealing with legacy systems but also enhancing current business processes for sustainability\, maintaining operational efficiency\, and ensuring flexibility to adapt to future business changes. \nOne of this year’s conference themes is “Legacy Workloads\,” referring to applications and systems that have been in operation for a long time but still need maintenance. These workloads often use outdated technologies\, hardware\, and platforms that may now seem obsolete and inefficient. However\, due to business process requirements\, they cannot be easily updated or discarded. These systems often face issues of stability\, dependency\, and complexity\, accumulating technical debt with insufficient technical support. \nFor example\, Stored Procedures were once widely used to improve efficiency and development time. However\, in today’s technological environment\, such designs often face maintenance difficulties\, high data dependency\, and low flexibility in adapting to business rules. Improving these issues requires not only code modification or refactoring but also changes and integration in system processes and architecture. \nLegacy workloads are like inherited family “assets.” How to handle these assets is crucial to a company’s business development\, testing the development and management of enterprise information systems: \n\n🔧 Modernization and How to Modernize: This involves balancing the stability of legacy systems with the need for updated technologies. Approaches like redesigning applications\, migrating to cloud platforms\, or adopting containerization can achieve modernization.\n🔧 Risk Management in Modernization: Ensuring that the modernization process does not disrupt business continuity and data integrity.\n🔧 Cost-Benefit Analysis: Evaluating the costs of modernizing legacy systems against the benefits of improved business value to determine the best upgrade approach.\n🔧 Technical Skill Replacement and Training: The expertise required to maintain legacy systems may become scarce over time\, necessitating training or seeking external support.\n🔧 Managing Technical Debt: Understanding the causes of accumulated technical debt in legacy systems and devising strategies to manage and reduce it effectively\, ensuring system flexibility and maintainability.\n\nIn summary\, effective management and modernization of legacy workloads are essential for long-term business development and technological innovation. It is worth every system developer and maintainer’s time to understand\, share\, and learn about these issues. \nWhat are your thoughts or insights on legacy workloads? Or what do you want to know about them? Don’t hesitate to sign up for this year’s event! \n\n💎 Learn about approaches to handling legacy workloads during major system migrations or transformations.\n💎 Hear industry insights from practitioners of Domain-Driven Design in various fields and understand the application of related soft skills.\n💎 Networking and technical learning – Meet industry pioneers and peers on the path to becoming a good problem solver\, facilitating more than just technical exchanges.\n💎 Ignite your passion and become a backbone in tackling complex legacy workloads.\n\n適合參加者 Suitable Attendees \n– 🧑‍💼 決策管理者 \n– 💻 軟體工程師 \n– 🛠️ 系統架構師 \n– 📋 專案經理 \n– 🛠️ 產品經理 \n– 🔍 系統分析師 \n– 🧪 測試品保相關人員 \n– 🎨 設計師 \n\n🧑‍💼 Decision-makers\n💻 Software Engineers\n🛠️ System Architects\n📋 Project Managers\n🛠️ Product Managers\n🔍 System Analysts\n🧪 QA and Testing Personnel\n🎨 Designers\n\n時間 Date & Time：09/13（五 Friday）09:00 – 17:00（詳情需等待後續官網公開訊息 Details will be published on the official website later） \n地點 Venue：台大醫院國際會議中心 NTUH International Convention Center（100台北市中正區徐州路2號 No. 2\, Xuzhou Rd.\, Zhongzheng Dist.\, Taipei City） \n報名 To apply：https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2406080625301381404160?utm_source=EventPage&utm_medium=AdCard&utm_campaign=accu_AdCard_2407100705301911651140 \n🚎 交通指南 Transportation Guide \n搭乘公車 By Bus \n台大醫院站：22 / 15 / 615 / 227 / 648 / 648綠 / 中山幹線 / 208 / 208直達車，步行約3分鐘即可抵達\n開南商工站（近徐州路口）：0南 / 15 / 22 / 208 / 295 / 297 / 671，步行約3分鐘即可抵達\n仁愛林森路口站（林森南路口）：295 / 297 / 15 / 22 / 671，步行約3分鐘即可抵達\n仁愛林森路口站（仁愛路口）：245 / 261 / 37 / 249 / 270 / 263 / 621 / 651 / 630，步行約5分鐘即可抵達 \nNTU Hospital Station: 22 / 15 / 615 / 227 / 648 / 648 Green / Zhongshan Main Line / 208 / 208 Express\, 3-minute walk \nKainan Commercial School Station (near Xuzhou Road): 0 South / 15 / 22 / 208 / 295 / 297 / 671\, 3-minute walk \nRenai-Linsen Intersection (Linsen South Road): 295 / 297 / 15 / 22 / 671\, 3-minute walk \nRenai-Linsen Intersection (Renai Road): 245 / 261 / 37 / 249 / 270 / 263 / 621 / 651 / 630\, 5-minute walk \n搭乘捷運 By MRT \n🗺️淡水北投線（紅線）：台大醫院站2號出口 \n->搭乘淡水信義線（紅線）至台大醫院站2號出口直走常德街，穿越中山南路後往左側直走後再右轉徐州路，步行大約6分鐘即可抵達 \n🗺️板南線（藍線）：善導寺站2號出口 \n->搭乘板南線（藍線）至善導寺站2號出口，沿林森南路往南走經青島東路、濟南路，遇徐州路右轉，步行約7-10分鐘內即可抵達 \n\nTamsui-Xinyi Line (Red Line): NTU Hospital Station\, Exit 2\n\nWalk straight along Changde Street\, cross Zhongshan South Road\, turn left and walk straight\, then turn right onto Xuzhou Road. As soon as the news was released\, all collectors exclaimed in unison: “So cute!” This classic little piece is absolutely worth collecting! \nThe translucent Jadeite Cabage combined once again with the popular figure Stabby\, designed to commemorate Stabby’s winning of the prestigious A’ Design Award in Italy. At night\, this toy emits a greenish glow\, making it look like a radiant little work of art! \nAdditionally\, the “One Bite SU” series\, which promotes the idea of not wasting food by transforming into zombies\, has also ascended to become a treasured collection at the National Palace Museum! The dragon pattern from the classic artifact is intricately incorporated into the back design\, capturing the grandeur and dynamic essence of the lotus-climbing three-clawed dragon. The side mimics the texture of porcelain\, presenting a translucent shine\, while the neck is adorned with flowing lotus patterns\, perfectly combining the allure of toys and collectible art! \nThese two highly popular items will be on sale for the first time at the exhibition.
\n\nYODEX will once again be held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center 2. The exhibition will showcase thousands of creative works from Taiwan and international design schools! \n\nThis year\, the new generation is encouraged to think about how to use their creativity to unleash the power and value of design in various fields. The theme of this edition is “#BeyondSustainability“\, not only echoing global attention and action towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) but also aiming to inspire students to go beyond the 17 SDGs and apply sustainability concepts to various challenges in the environment and society\, envisioning a more sustainable and better future.\n\n➤ 策展團隊 Curatorial Team\n\n由新銳建築師曾雅欣及林中一擔任策展人，為展場空間進行總體規劃及主題策展。 \n\nCurated by emerging architects Zeng Ya-xin and Lin Zhong-yi\, who graduated from Architecture Department of Tunghai University. Zeng Ya-xin completed her master’s degree in architecture at Harvard University and worked as a designer at the Japanese design firm nendo\, contributing to various international projects such as the exhibition installation design “Ame Nochi Hana” at Le Bon Marché in Paris and the brand showroom design for Marsotto Edizioni in Milan. Lin Zhong-yi earned his master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University and worked at renowned international firms such as Kengo Kuma & Associates in Japan and Leers Weinzapfel Associates in Boston\, accumulating years of practical experience.\n\nTogether\, they founded the Yure Design Studio in 2022\, exploring various possibilities in architectural\, interior\, exhibition\, and installation art design fields. Stay tuned to see how they interpret the theme of “Beyond Sustainability”!\n\n➤ 主視覺設計 Main Visual Design\n\n由 www.ddd.pizza 張溥輝操刀，也是新一代「學長」的他，在2015年即以 #金點新秀設計獎 視覺傳達設計類「年度最佳設計獎」得主嶄露頭角。 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDesigned by Zhang Pu-hui from www.ddd.pizza\, a rising star who won the “Best Design Award” in the Visual Communication category at the #GoldenPinDesignAward in 2015. He has designed album covers and layouts for renowned singers such as Crowd Lu and YELLOW\, and his work on 2HRs’ album《永生獸》was nominated for the Best Album Art Design at the 29th Golden Melody Awards. Recently\, he has also created the main visuals for popular series like “AtTheMoment” and “Let’s Talk About CHU”. The main visual design for this year’s exhibition returns to focus on brand identity. Through simple layout composition and element arrangement\, Zhang Pu-hui has created various variations. He mentioned that the design process of the main visual reminded him of the satisfaction he felt when he first learned graphic design software as a student\, arranging texts and shapes to realize various visual ideas. This journey of designing the main visual is not only a return to his original intention but also a tribute to the initial passion of a designer. \n售票地點 Ticket Sales Locations \n官網SurveyCake販售頁面、ibon售票系統網站、7-11門市ibon機台 \nOfficial website SurveyCake ticket sales page\, ibon ticketing system website\, 7-11 stores with ibon machines \n購票方式 Ticket Purchase Methods \n購買1-8張 Purchase 1-8 tickets： \n\n電子票券請至ibon售票系統網站購買 For electronic tickets\, please purchase them on the ibon ticketing system website\n使用文化幣者請至ibon售票系統網站購買 For those using cultural vouchers\, please purchase them on the ibon ticketing system website\n實體票券請至全台7-11門市ibon機台購買 For physical tickets\, please purchase them at any 7-11 store with an ibon machine\n點此ibon 購票 Click here to purchase tickets on ibon\n\n購買9張(含)以上 Purchase 9 tickets or more： \n\n至SurveyCake早鳥團體票 購票頁面購買 Visit the SurveyCake early bird group ticket purchase page to buy tickets\n點此前往購票 Click here to proceed with ticket purchase\n\n退票須知-購買9張(含)以上 Refund Policy – Purchase 9 tickets or more： \n\n早鳥團體票 退票申請單(尚未開放)：匯款購票後3天內(不含購票日)可整筆退票，手續費為票面總金額5%(及退款時會扣除匯款手續費10元) For early bird group tickets\, the refund application form (not yet available): Within 3 days after purchasing the ticket (excluding the purchase date)\, you can request a full refund\, subject to a 5% processing fee of the total ticket amount (plus a deduction of NT$10 for remittance handling fee during the refund)\n點此前往退票 Click here to proceed with the refund process

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 31st graduate exhibition of Department of Commercial Design\, titled “SPRINGING\,” will be held both on campus and off-campus. \nOn-campus exhibition: \n\nDates: May 14 – May 17\nVenue: Design Building\, 1/F\, Taoyuan Campus\n\nOff-campus exhibition: \n\nDates: May 24 – May 27\nEvent: YODEX\nVenue: Area D-08\, 4/F\, Hall 2\, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center\n\nThe theme of this year’s graduate exhibition\, “SPRINGING”\, embodies the concept of “Open Source”\, granting design unlimited flexibility. Open Source is a method that is open to the public\, allowing for free use and modification. It provides a boundless source of energy that\, when combined with design\, stretches the imagination infinitely. This integration of Open Source and design allows for traceability\, sharing\, and the generation of diverse ideas. It aims to meet the needs of society by reaching more users and developers\, thus creating a positive cycle of innovation. \nThe graduating seniors of Department of Commercial Design are extending the ideal of “Open Source” endlessly forward. They have formed 29 groups\, each exploring different possibilities through actual authorization. Their works cover five categories: cultural heritage\, social issues\, educational promotion\, spiritual experiences\, and environmental sustainability. By allowing design elements to be re-edited and transformed\, they aim to expand thinking\, inspire more people to participate\, and collaborate to create diverse works that achieve tangible and sustainable results. They are challenging tradition and moving towards a more open future. \nThe exhibition promises to showcase exciting and innovative works. All faculty and students are welcome to attend and appreciate the creativity of our graduating seniors.
