Three Years Later\, Where Are You Now? —— “Why Do We Move?” Series of Talks
\nOn the journey of relocation\, you are not alone — come listen to their stories! \nIf you could live by your own free will\, what kind of life would you choose? \nPost-pandemic\, the phenomenon of relocating within the island has become increasingly common. If you also feel the stirrings of a desire to relocate\, come hear what the pioneers on this path have to say. \nSome of them wanted to change their environment and pursue their ideal lifestyle.\nSome sought to start their own business and find the right place for their dreams.\nOthers hoped to leave the city to provide their children with a closer connection to nature. \nIn “Why Do We Move?”\, the stories of relocation pioneers from the “Relocators’ Confessions” section of the Jimi Handbook from 2020 to 2022 are gathered\, and after many years\, they were revisited and followed up\, providing a real depiction of the changes brought by relocation over time. \nTo celebrate the publication\, we invite five groups of relocators from the book to share their stories through two online talks\, one offline discussion\, and a mini book exhibition. They will share their practical and touching life experiences: how to achieve their goals step by step and whether their initial ideals were realized in the process. \nOn the journey of relocation\, you will find what is truly important—\nAre you ready? Ten Years: Finding Myself Through Relocation \n移居從來不是終點，而是起點—— \n移居十年，從台南到台東，原先是位攝影師的阿勳經過多年自立建屋生涯，發現自己原來還是離不開相機；同樣自第一次移居起已過十年，致蕙自新北、苗栗搬到新竹，從仲介業務、自由接案再到自創品牌，持續在路上。 \nRelocation is never the end\, but a beginning — \nAfter ten years of relocation\, from Tainan to Taitung\, 阿勳\, originally a photographer\, discovered that he still couldn’t leave his camera after years of self-sustained living. Similarly\, after ten years since her first relocation\, 致蕙has moved from New Taipei and Miaoli to Hsinchu\, transitioning from real estate agent to freelance work and eventually starting her own brand\, continuously on the move. \nRelocation\, it turns out\, is not the answer. It changes the relationship with oneself more than the external environment.\nWhat have they lost and gained from their relocation? What changes in mindset have occurred?\nWhat do they imagine relocation to be now? Challenge! Starting a Business After Relocation \n如果想移居，開一間書店 or 咖啡店？ \nIf you want to relocate\, how about starting a bookstore or café? \n舜子& Mindy moved from Taipei to downtown Kaohsiung and then to Meinong\, where they started a café. 青樺&治德 finally settled in Zhuangwei\, Yilan\, opening the first independent bookstore in the area. \nThey have gone door to door looking for a café location in the countryside\, exhausted themselves renovating\, and pondered over whether to relocate again due to transportation issues for the bookstore. \nHow do you leave your original living environment to start your own business? What challenges might you face?\nHow do dreams\, children’s growth\, and living conditions intertwine to create new dynamics? 》一本＝NT$630（原價NT$820） \n*【Book Add-on】Register for any online talk to purchase a copy of “Why Do We Move?” at a 30% discount (NT$360\, original price NT$520). \n*【Relocation Package】Two online talks + one copy of “Why Do We Move?” = NT$630 (original price NT$820). Offline Meetup: Relocation\, Then What? \nIn 2015\, Cherry from Hong Kong first set foot in Taiwan for a work interview and fell in love with the place.
