The A&R Music Club will host a one-day flash performance\, “Midterm Acoustic”\, on November 25 (Tue)\, 12:00–13:00\, at Liberty Square in front of 7-11. With soft acoustic guitar melodies\, the event aims to add a touch of warmth to lunchtime and invites students to pause in the cool breeze and let the music settle gently in their hearts. \nThis flash performance features the pure\, unamplified sound of acoustic guitar. Celebrated for their interpretations of 20th-century and contemporary music\, they also excel in classical and romantic repertoire. Known for their precise technique and profound understanding of musical textures\, they seamlessly connect traditional and modern musical languages\, creating a dialogue that transcends time. Their recordings\, including the complete Bartók String Quartets and Boulez’s Livre pour Quatuor\, showcase their deep engagement with 20th-century quartet music. \nPerforming globally\, Diotima will visit Taiwan this May to present a program featuring British composer Benjamin Britten’s early chamber work\, String Quartet No. 1 in D Major. This piece begins with a slow and mysterious melody\, achieving a balance between tranquil atmospheres and dynamic rhythmic drive. Additionally\, they will perform the Asian premiere of Austrian-German composer Anton Bruckner’s String Quartet in c minor\, WAB 111. Since founding Taiwan Connection (TC) in 2004\, where he serves as Artistic Director\, Hu has dedicated himself to leading Taiwan’s young musicians in bringing classical music’s enduring beauty to audiences far and wide. \nFor his third appearance at the Eslite Chamber Music Festival\, Hu collaborates with outstanding young international musicians: violinist Xuan-Hao Hsu\, a Curtis Institute of Music graduate with an extensive touring history in Europe and the Americas; violist Shih-Hsien Tsai\, principal violist of the Ciconia Consort in The Hague\, Netherlands; and cellist Shih-Lin Chen\, former member of Canada’s Borealis String Quartet and a prominent mid-career artist in Taiwan. Like a royal instrument\, its sound once reverberated in churches\, moving and cleansing the souls of countless people. This concert will begin from this great period\, taking the audience back to the 17th and 18th centuries and revealing the story of how the organ became the “king of musical instruments”. \nThis performance invites Lin Weilun and He Zhongmou to join forces on trumpet to engage in a wonderful musical dialogue with organist Yu Xiaoyi. This work showcases the performer’s skills with magnificent touches\, unfolding a delicate interweaving of melody and harmony. Its complex form structure and strong musical emotions make it a symbol of Baroque music and an irreplaceable treasure in the organ repertoire. \nThe next performance will further showcase another side of the Baroque period – the concerto dialogue between brass instruments and keyboard instruments. \nGiovanni Battista Franceschini’s Sonata in D major features double trumpets and the organ\, creating a light and gorgeous timbre. The bright melody of the trumpet is like sunlight penetrating through stained glass\, while the organ is laid out with rich harmonies\, like the solemn celestial echoes in the church. This work not only presents the brilliance of music\, but also captures the luxury and agility of Baroque music. \nNext\, Giuseppe Jacchini’s Sonata for Double Trumpet and Organ will continue to lead the audience to explore the interactive spirit in Baroque music. This work features a bright dialogue between two trumpets\, which echo each other and interweave beautiful melodic lines. The organ provides heavy and warm harmonic support in this dialogue\, like a stable foundation in the church. This piece of music captures the joyful atmosphere of the ceremony at that time with a light yet solemn rhythm\, showing the joy and elegance in Baroque music. \nIn addition to the Baroque classics\, this concert also features two contemporary American solo organ works. Through diverse arrangements and rich repertoire\, the audience will experience the diverse styles of organ music—from the beauty of a simple solo to the dialogue between double trumpets and the organ. As the notes flow through the space\, the brightness of the brass tubes and the grandeur of the organ blend with each other. We can not only relive the glory of the Baroque period\, but also read the story of the organ itself from these pieces of music.

DESCRIPTION:神秘失控人聲樂團（SEMISCON Vocal Band）成立於2002年，是台灣第一個以純人聲形式演出的專業樂團，以阿卡貝拉（A Cappella，意指純人聲而不使用任何樂器的音樂演出形式）為表演主軸，並突破一般傳統重唱觀念與限制，冶人聲演唱、舞臺燈光、戲劇表現、舞蹈走位及和聲技巧為一爐，曲風游走于古典、爵士、中西流行歌曲，強調帶給觀眾整體而獨特的經驗感受，是臺灣少見具有創新能力與靈活表演彈性的音樂團隊。 \n神秘失控在4/11將帶來一系列精彩的校園民歌，以及台灣初代女神鄧麗君、鳳飛飛、崔苔菁的膾炙人口的歌曲，改編為全新的純人聲阿卡貝拉形式，帶領觀眾穿越時光隧道，重新回味這些絕代好歌。 \nSEMISCON Vocal Band—Taiwan’s first professional a cappella group—was founded in 2002 and is renowned for its innovative use of the human voice as the sole instrument. It can be said to be one of the most watched YouTube channels in the field of classical music in Taiwan. The creator Xu Wei (Hainiu) uses a humorous tone\, vivid narration\, and clear score examples to introduce classical music in an easy-to-understand way. So far\, he has created several videos with over one million views. In 2024\, the cross-border production “Funeral of Spring Flowers” was launched to tour the three regions of North\, Central and South Taiwan\, which was well received and received enthusiastic responses. Participating in the 10th anniversary of the Eslite Chamber Music Festival for the first time\, the “Funeral of Spring Flowers. Extended Special Performance” will be launched. DESCRIPTION:【曲目介紹 Program Introduction】 \n《Sea of Wisdom》智慧之海 \n此曲是由日本和歌山縣岩出第二中學委託創作，於和歌山縣管樂大賽首演，曲長大約七分半鐘。歌山縣讓人印象最深刻的景色就是「白濱海岸」及「三段壁」，因此，這首曲子便是由腦海中所描繪的山海景色，交織而成。 \n作曲家認為海這種美且廣大的景色，絕對是和我們人世間最大的力量（智慧）共同存在的，只要聽眾與演奏者懷著這種想法去聆聽與演奏，一定會從音樂中感受到幸福的力量。 \n音樂一開始，由「早晨的海」揭開序幕，由豎笛模仿海鷗的叫聲，感覺船揚帆啟航緩緩的駛出港口，中低音聲部將主旋律帶入，並擴大發展，就像是船行駛在寬廣的大海一般。接著，中音薩克斯風演奏出優雅的獨奏片段，彷彿大海如母親般眷顧著我們的溫情。中段，進入了三段壁的風光，低音銅管切分的節奏就像是海浪不固定的拍打著峭壁，而高音木管快速的音群就如同海浪與峭岸相互撞擊時所迸濺的浪花，時而澎湃，時而璀璨晶瑩。最後，作曲家將主題再次導入，然後以輝煌之勢結束。 \nThis piece was commissioned by Wakayama Prefecture’s Iwade Second Junior High School and premiered at the Wakayama Prefecture Wind Ensemble Competition. Spanning approximately 7 minutes and 30 seconds\, the composition draws inspiration from Wakayama’s most iconic landscapes: Shirahama Beach and Sandanbeki Cliff. The piece intertwines vivid mental imagery of these breathtaking seascapes. \nThe composer believes that the grandeur and beauty of the sea embody a profound coexistence with the greatest forces (wisdom) of human existence. Listeners and performers\, by embracing this perspective\, can find happiness and fulfillment through the music. \nThe piece opens with “The Morning Sea”\, where clarinets mimic the calls of seagulls\, creating a sense of ships setting sail and gradually leaving the harbor. The middle and low brass then carry the main melody\, expanding it to evoke the sensation of a ship cruising across the vast ocean. A smooth and elegant solo by the alto saxophone follows\, symbolizing the motherly warmth and care of the sea. \nIn the middle section\, the scenery transitions to the dramatic Sandanbeki Cliffs. The rhythmic syncopation from the low brass captures the unpredictable waves crashing against the cliffs\, while the high woodwinds’ rapid flourishes emulate the sparkling spray of waves hitting the rocky coastline. DESCRIPTION:2024年正逢臺灣民謠之父——鄧雨賢先生逝世80周年，「The 8rass 銅管重奏團」決定以鄧雨賢先生的經典作品作為主題發想，舉辦本次《春霞望月》音樂會。本次音樂會全場皆為「委託編曲」，特別邀請目前就讀加州藝術學院的臺灣新生代作曲家——王浩宇、故事痕跡音樂藝術創辦人——許永慶，以及目前The 8rass銅管重奏團團員——胡李豐駿，將鄧雨賢先生創作之經典民謠改編為銅管重奏版本。 \n本次音樂會《春霞望月》，以臺灣民眾最為熟悉的鄧雨賢先生創作之本土音樂作為主題，透過三位年輕作曲家——王浩宇、許永慶及胡李豐駿，將打破大眾對於銅管的刻板印象，把厚重的銅管樂器融合進鄧雨賢先生優美的旋律中，使聽眾沈浸在鄧雨賢先生的世界，一同喚起臺灣人年幼老少記憶裡的共同樂音，將這些屬於臺灣人的音樂記憶一起繼續傳唱。 \nThe year 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the passing of Taiwan’s “Father of Folk Songs”\, Deng Yu-Shian. To honor his legacy\, The 8rass Ensemble has curated this special concert\, themed around Deng’s iconic works. The program features exclusively commissioned arrangements by three talented young Taiwanese composers: Bob Haoyu Wang\, a student at the California Institute of the Arts; Yung-Ching Hsu\, founder of Trace of Story Music Arts; and Hu Li Feng-Chun\, a member of The 8rass Ensemble. These composers have reimagined Deng’s timeless folk melodies for brass instrumentation. \n“In the Spring Afterglow\, Stay by the Moon” celebrates Deng Yu-Shian’s beloved compositions\, cherished by generations of Taiwanese people. Through the innovative interpretations of Bob Haoyu Wang\, Yung-Ching Hsu and Hu Li Feng-Chun\, the concert redefines the perception of brass instruments by blending their rich\, resonant tones with Deng’s lyrical melodies. The workshop aims to heighten awareness of everyday sounds and deepen the connection with one’s body and music. \nThe experience begins with gentle warm-up exercises to awaken the body and muscles\, fostering inner peace. Through weight shifts and balance exercises\, participants will find their natural rhythm and become a part of Beitou’s street scenes.
