It can be said to be one of the most watched YouTube channels in the field of classical music in Taiwan. The creator Xu Wei (Hainiu) uses a humorous tone\, vivid narration\, and clear score examples to introduce classical music in an easy-to-understand way. So far\, he has created several videos with over one million views. In 2024\, the cross-border production “Funeral of Spring Flowers” was launched to tour the three regions of North\, Central and South Taiwan\, which was well received and received enthusiastic responses. Participating in the 10th anniversary of the Eslite Chamber Music Festival for the first time\, the “Funeral of Spring Flowers. Extended Special Performance” will be launched. In the form of an interpretive concert with in-depth explanations and complete performances\, the audience is invited to listen to the musical talents of the most talented composers in history – Mendelssohn. \nFelix Mendelssohn\, known as the happiest classical musician\, not only has an enviable family background\, but is also known as the most talented composer in history\, having written his first symphony at the age of 15. But what many people probably don’t know is that there is actually a more talented genius beside him\, who is buried in the shadows\, and that is his sister\, Fanny Mendelssohn. \nLike her brother Felix\, sister Fanny showed great musical talent since childhood. However\, the social environment at that time did not allow “women” to become musicians. Fanny could only treat music as a hobby\, and her works could only be published under her brother’s name. The two siblings still had contradictory and complex emotions in their mutual support. However\, Fanny\, who was full of ambition for music\, did not easily bow to fate. At the age of 40\, she finally made a bold and courageous decision: she would publish her works under her own name. And Felix finally gave Fanny his blessing. \nInspired by this\, Fanny wrote the most important work of her life\, the Piano Trio in D minor\, which echoed the Piano Trio in C minor completed by Felix at the same time. The two pieces have very similar structures\, but compared to the optimistic and bright personality of Felix’s trio\, Fanny’s music contains more longing and tragic colors\, as if revealing through music that these similar souls have had completely different life experiences. \nThis performance will be performed by Xu Wei (Hai Niu)\, the creator of “The Boring Life of Musicians”\, who will play the piano\, and will be accompanied by Taipei City Symphony Orchestra Assistant Principal Hu Tingxuan and National Symphony Orchestra Principal Cello Shangdi Caimen\, who will play the last two piano trios left by the Mendelssohn siblings.
