Exploring the Exciting and Diverse Culture of Zhongli
\nLi Jing Ding (Zhongli Police Dormitory Complex)\nBuilt in 1941 during Japanese rule through a fundraising effort led by the Residents’ Association\, this site served as housing for Zhongli County police. In 2013\, it was officially registered as a Taoyuan City historical building. Beyond its architectural significance\, it witnessed Taiwan’s first democratic street movement\, the “Zhongli Incident”. \nZhongping Road Story Hall\nLocated in the Zhongping shopping area near Zhongli Train Station\, this building was constructed in 1930 (Year 19 of the Republic of China). Originally a Japanese-style duplex for government officials\, it was home to notable figures and their families for decades. Distinct from other post-war Japanese residences used to house mainland Chinese officials\, this hall preserves unique Hakka cultural and historical elements. Recognized for its historical value\, it was registered as a historic site in 2010 and is actively maintained for cultural reuse. \nSoutheast Asian Shopping Street\nBefore the rise of Hsinchu Science Park\, Zhongli was a major hub for factories and transportation\, attracting numerous migrant workers. Over time\, Zhongping shopping area transformed into a vibrant multicultural hotspot. Storefronts display signs in Indonesian\, Vietnamese\, and Thai\, offering everything from food to daily necessities\, creating an authentic Southeast Asian atmosphere. \nSoutheast Asian Grocery Stores\nThese stores cater to the nostalgic cravings of foreign workers. Stocked with traditional noodles\, seasonings\, and unique cooking tools like Thai mortar and pestles\, they provide a taste of home. \nQing Hong Vietnamese French Bread Stand\nThis unique stand offers not only Vietnamese baguettes but also exotic fruits such as green mangoes\, olives\, and jujube-like fruits served with fish sauce and Vietnamese chili salt. It’s a delightful way to explore Vietnamese cuisine. \nAuthentic Thai Temple – Wat Sangvaro\nThis traditional Thai Buddhist temple offers a glimpse into Thai spirituality and culture. Each day of the week is associated with a specific deity\, with Wednesday divided into morning and afternoon deities. Seasonal attire for the main Buddha statue reflects Thai customs. Visitors can learn about Thai religious practices and beliefs\, including the revered Thai Massage God and Medicine Buddha. \nThai and Vietnamese Cooking Experiences\nEngage in workshops led by Thai or Vietnamese instructors\, offering hands-on experiences in preparing dishes like green papaya salad\, salted lemons\, and Thai milk tea. Participants can enjoy the snacks on-site or take them home while exchanging stories about life in Taiwan. \n \n＊手作體驗內容及地點將依實際情況調整，資訊將陸續補充 \n走讀路線 Schedule： \n報名 To apply：https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2411180446268361236900?utm_campaign=accu_theme&utm_medium=home_north&utm_source=Web \n壢景町（中壢警察局日式宿舍群）集合→中平路故事館→東南亞商圈興起介紹→中平路商店招牌介紹／東南亞雜貨店／清鴻越南法國麵包→1981 Café →威儀精舍（傣泰）วัดสํวโร Wat Sangvaro \n\nMeeting at Li Jing Ding\nVisit Zhongping Road Story Hall\nExplore the Southeast Asian commercial area\, including stores and food stalls\nEnd at Wat Sangvaro for a cultural and culinary workshop\n\n※將依實際情況做微調 \n12/13（五）13:30-16:30 青木瓜 \n12/17 （二）09:00-12:00 青木瓜 \n12/17 （二）13:30-16:30 青木瓜 \n12/20 （五）13:00-16:00 青木瓜 \n12/22 （日）09:00-12:00 鹹檸檬 \n12/24 （二）09:00-12:00 泰奶 \n12/24 （二）13:30-16:30 泰奶 \n12/27 （五）13:30-16:30 鹹檸檬 \nCooking Workshop Dates: \n\nGreen Papaya: 12/13 (Fri)\, 12/17 (Tue)\, 12/20 (Fri)\nSalted Lemons: 12/22 (Sun)\, 12/27 (Fri)\nThai Milk Tea: 12/24 (Tue)\n\n如有疑問，請洽 Contact Information \n沐育文化臉書專頁 Facebook：https://www.facebook.com/MUYUING \n沐育文化電話 Phone：02-66039697

Survival Guide to Taipei Main Station's Maze
\nTaipei Main Station – a crossroads of dreams and ambition\, as well as loss and longing. \nTaipei Main Station stands as both the starting and ending point for dreams. Those coming north to chase their dreams often begin their journey here\, but some\, in the end\, are left behind at this very station. \nWith dreams of a brighter future\, travelers leap from trains with hope\, striving to create a new chapter in an unfamiliar city. Just like Garcia\, who once struggled with illness and faced repeated job rejections\, many hope the bustling city of Taipei will offer a spark of new life. \nWhere success and setbacks intersect. \nAs the first stop for travelers from other towns\, the rear station thrives on people seeking job opportunities\, and its convenient location has turned the backstreets into a bustling wholesale area. While the glory of Huayin Street may seem faded\, it still carries remnants of the past. Taipei Main Station has witnessed the success stories of many while embracing those who have faced hard times. Join us in following Garcia’s steps to explore how diverse beliefs coexist\, offering solace to those who are feeling lost. As the saying goes\, “A clever rabbit has three burrows”. Garcia\, once homeless on these streets\, will show you his hidden places in this maze\, offering tips for surviving in this crowded labyrinth. \nLet’s go! The staff has prepared a big cheat sheet for him\, but sometimes he still gets a bit nervous. Feel free to chat with him if he stumbles a bit—once you hear his signature hearty laugh\, he’ll be back on track! What color is your memory of the street?】 \n阿昌師\, once a tattoo artist known for creating intricate dragon and deity tattoos\, has now used his skills to illustrate six iconic street scenes for this tour. These scenes bring to life the colorful local history of East Sanshui Market\, Ximen Red House\, Mengjia Park\, the Cooperative Bank on Hengyang Road\, the nostalgic Star Cafe and Bopiliao. \nEach of these spots might be familiar to you\, but with the addition of life’s colors\, the street scenes transform beyond mere scenery\, filled with familiar faces and charming stories. \nHow to Get Your Tâi-pak Set? \nWhen purchasing a tour ticket\, select the following options to add an additional NT$200 for a Tâi-pak set: \n\nFull Ticket + Coloring Tâi-pak Set (Total NT$650)\nStudent/Senior/Disability Discount Ticket + Coloring Tâi-pak Set (Total NT$600)\n\nPick up your set during the tour; no home delivery available. \nWe are Hidden Taipei \nHidden Taipei is a public communication program run by Homeless Taiwan Association. Return to the Black Gold Era - One-Day Exploration Tour of the New Taipei Mining District
\nLocated in Shifenliao\, Pingxi District\, New Taipei City\, the Taiwan Coal Mine Museum was formerly the Xi Pin Xi Coalmine Co.\, Ltd. It was operational from 1965 until it ceased operations and closed in 1997. Through the active preservation efforts of Mr. Gong Yong-cang\, the chairman of Xi Pin Xi Coalmine Co.\, the mining rights were retained\, and a coal mine museum was established. This area preserves a large number of relics\, historical materials\, and tools related to Taiwan’s coal industry. The museum specially simulates mining tunnels\, constructed according to actual proportions\, to realistically present the support structures of coal veins and tunnels. From the formation\, distribution\, mining\, to transportation of coal\, visitors can experience it firsthand. Additionally\, the rare Xi Ping Xi Coalmine monocular train is Taiwan’s first electrified coal transportation train and one of the few operating small trains in Taiwan. It is a favorite among railway enthusiasts and one of the most historically valuable exhibits. The Past and Present of Houtong – Houtong Cultural and Historical Museum\n猴硐在成為貓村之前，它是台灣第一大煤礦公司－瑞三鑛業公司所在地。 \nBefore becoming Houtong Cat Village\, Houtong was the site of Taiwan’s largest coal mining company\, Ruisan Mining Company Social Welfare Foundation. During its heyday\, over 500 miners entered the mine daily until it ceased operations in 1990. Retired miners collected their former work tools and historical materials in an attempt to pass on the local history and heritage\, so that more people would know that behind the tragedy\, there is more truth and resilience. \nHoutong Leisure Park was originally the site of the Ruisan Mining Industry. At the time\, the entire Houtong mining area accounted for one-seventh of Taiwan’s production\, making Houtong a bustling place. However\, after the cessation of mining\, the population migrated massively\, leading to the abandonment of the site. In memory of the sacrifices of the past\, the son of a miner spent 80 million to create a mining leisure park. Here\, visitors can ride a century-old mine cart train into the mine\, and there are also hand-pushed cars\, pneumatic mining tools\, and more than 50 years of mining tools preserved for both adults and children to experience the joy and challenges of mining. Lunch: Self-arranged at Shifen Old Street \n報名 To apply：https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2403140357352197214910

Chef Auntie Xiang incorporates tea into her dishes\, using freshly pressed oil from their own Pouchong tea seeds to stir-fry their home-raised free-range chicken. A table full of delicacies fills the air with aromatic flavors\, recreating the nostalgic taste of home-cooked meals. \n(*Tea Oil Chicken is a must-have on the menu\, while other dishes are based on the ingredients available on the day of the event) \n \n◆ 星空下的螢光漫步｜螢火蟲夜間觀察 \nFireflies are incredibly selective about their habitats\, and fortunately\, Pinglin is located within a water conservation area where the Beishi Stream is closed for fishing all year round. This proactive conservation effort by the local community has created a suitable habitat for these enchanting firefly creatures. As the journey comes to an end\, let’s gather by the riverside at night\, leaving behind all worries and noise\, quietly appreciating the soothing glow of these twinkling lights. Taste of Serendipity in Tea Country | Authentic Handcrafted Souvenirs ◆ \n以全興茶園冷泡茶啟程，沁涼舒爽；用文山包種茶葉，返家後回味旅程餘韻。 \nEmbark on a journey with cold-brewed tea from 全興茶園\, offering a refreshing start to your exploration\, followed by reminiscing the lingering essence of the trip with Wen Shan Pouchong Tea leaves upon your return home.
