Forging Miracles
DESCRIPTION:弦音迴響 樂聖的音樂奇蹟 \n無盡旋律 深摯交織 \n作品130與《大賦格》全篇呈現 \n見證古典樂壇史上不朽之作 \nResonance of Strings\, the Musical Miracles of Beethoven \nInterwoven melodies\, profound and infinite \nA complete performance of Op. 130 and the Grosse Fuge \nExperience one of the immortal masterpieces in classical music history \n \nInfinite首席四重奏是由前NSO國家交響樂團首席李宜錦所率領，匯聚台灣中生代頂尖音樂家所組成的指標性四重奏團。 \nInfinite \nLed by former NSO concertmaster Yi-Chin Lee\, the Infinite Principal Quartet brings together Taiwan’s finest mid-generation musicians. Recognized as a pioneering chamber ensemble\, they gained acclaim for their six-year Bartók Complete Cycle project\, a landmark in Taiwan’s music scene. Now in the fourth year of their Beethoven Late String Quartet Project\, they delve into the master’s groundbreaking works with exceptional artistry and insight. \nBeethoven’s late string quartets are some of the most profound and intricate works of his career\, renowned for their daring harmonies and unconventional rhythms that challenged the musical norms of their time. For performers\, these quartets are not only a test of technical skill but also an exploration of spiritual depth. \nThis program features String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat major\, Op. 130\, celebrated for its unique six-movement structure and introspective emotional depth. Written in the twilight of Beethoven’s life\, the music resonates like whispers from his soul\, capturing the interplay of struggle and hope. \nOriginally conceived as the final movement of Op. 130\, the Grosse Fuge (Op. 133) was later published as a standalone piece. Renowned for its structural complexity and profound brilliance\, Stravinsky once described it as “the most perfect miracle in music”. \nThe evening will also include Schubert’s String Quartet No. 12 in c minor\, Quartettsatz. This incomplete work contains a single movement that begins with a hypnotic\, repeated pianissimo\, transitioning rapidly between contrasts of darkness\, agitation and lyricism. \nWith their masterful precision and thoughtful interpretation\, Infinite Principal Quartet embarks on the latter half of their Beethoven project with unparalleled passion. This performance invites audiences to witness the immortal legacy of two German-Austrian musical titans in a singular evening of chamber music. Scent of Tea in a Bag: Handcrafted Tea Bag & "Mark Head" Printing Workshop
\nInfuse the fragrance of tea with your hands and stamp your own memory — turning a simple cup of tea into a lifestyle art form. \nThis workshop brings together tea culture\, hands-on crafting and vintage printing techniques. You’ll learn how to blend tea\, assemble personalized tea bags\, and print traditional tea box marks\, experiencing the aesthetics of tea packaging while embracing the warmth and subtleties of tea culture. All creations can be taken home as personal keepsakes or heartfelt gifts to share the fragrant memory with friends and loved ones. \nThe “Mark Head” is a stencil used in traditional tea trade—words carved into metal plates\, affixed to wooden tea boxes and printed using oil-based ink. \nIn the past\, when shipping tea\, Sin Hong Choon Tea Museum would stencil the name and contents onto tea crates using a “mark head”—a metal stencil fixed to the outside of wooden boxes\, with ink brushed over it to label the tea inside. \nFor this event\, we’ve transformed this old-school printing technique into a movable-type stamp experience. Participants will get a chance to try this printing process and create a one-of-a-kind souvenir\, reliving a traditional part of the tea shipment process while taking home a tangible piece of tea history.

Rolling Reels\, Glowing Dreams: The Cinematic Life of Mr. Airplane
\n“When I was a kid\, I was obsessed with movies. Showing films was my greatest joy…” \nMr. Airplane grew up in the heart of Tainan City. As a boy\, he would tug at the sleeves of adults in front of the cinema\, begging to be taken in to watch a film. After graduating from elementary school\, he became an apprentice in a projection room\, learning to operate reel film projectors. \nIn 1950s Tainan\, movie theaters flourished and were the heart of entertainment. Western and East Asian films were all the rage—James Bond\, Raiders of the Lost Ark\, and famed Japanese actor Akira Kobayashi left lasting impressions in Mr. Airplane’s mind. \nOver his decades-long career as a film projectionist\, Mr. Airplane worked at five or six different cinemas. When he talks about running films from theater to theater\, the mechanics of projecting film reels\, or being treated to shrimp rice by the boss during Lunar New Year\, it feels like time rewinds and Tainan’s golden age of cinema plays again before your eyes. \nHowever\, that glorious era slowly faded with time. As cinemas closed down one after another\, projectionists like Mr. Airplane lost their livelihood\, which eventually contributed to him becoming unhoused. \nBut years later\, Mr. Airplane now uses his storytelling skills—nurtured by a lifetime of watching films—to share his life stories with others. On this special day\, follow Mr. Airplane into the world of film reels and discover his remarkable past. Rise and Fall of Film Reels / Screening of Classic Japanese Film Clips \n｜15:05-15:30 離開放映室之後：飛機的人生故事分享 + Q&A Life After the Projection Room: Personal Story of Mr. Airplane + Q&A \n｜15:30-15:40 休息一下 Short Break \n｜15:40-16:00 芒草心組織介紹 + 交流時間 Mang Grassroots Charity Introduction + Group Sharing \n※本流程僅供參考，當日可能會有所調整，敬請見諒 Schedule is subject to change on the event day \n報名 To apply：https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2503040737051716130018?utm_campaign=accu_banner&utm_medium=home_north&utm_source=Web \n📽️ 講者介紹 Speaker Profile \n🎞️ 前膠捲電影放映師／無家經驗者 飛機先生 Former Film Projectionist / Lived Experience of Homelessness – Mr. Airplane \n飛機先生目前偶爾在台北車站M8出口駐點販售大誌雜誌。 \nNow an occasional vendor of The Big Issue Taiwan at Taipei Main Station Exit M8\, Mr. Airplane is a passionate film enthusiast and former projectionist with deep insights into classic cinema. Guided by staff\, he used tattooing techniques to create six colorable scenes based on the lives of the unhoused: 阿和sharing mosquito coils with a Taipower employee in Dongshan Market\, 阿俊confused between entrances at Red House\, 小胖living in Monga Park for two years\, the two playful owls at the bank on Hengyang Road\, the retro Ming Sheng Café\, and the nostalgic Bopiliao Historic Block. \nYou may have walked past these places—but through the lens of lived experience and a touch of color\, the streets are transformed. \nThe 22nd Graduation Exhibition of Department of Digital Media Design at MCU\, titled “D-mart”\, will be held in two sessions: the on-campus exhibition will take place from April 21 to 24 on the first floor of the Design Building\, Taoyuan Campus; the off-campus exhibition will be part of YODEX from May 9 to 12 at TAINEX Hall 2\, 4th Floor\, Booth E-08. \nThis year’s theme\, “D-mart”\, draws inspiration from the concept of a convenience store. The letter “D” stands not only for “Design” but also symbolizes the close connection between design and everyday life. Just as convenience stores are indispensable in urban living\, design plays an essential role in our daily experiences—not only present in products and services but also influencing how we live\, interact\, and feel. The logo creatively transforms the letter “D” into a smiling face\, expressing the warmth and joy of design\, aiming to bring visitors a delightful experience while exploring the D-mart concept store. \nIn today’s digital era\, digital media is as diverse and accessible as the offerings in a convenience store—available anytime\, anywhere and ready to meet various needs. This versatility empowers designers to unleash their full creativity and potential to enhance our living environments\, making everyday life more convenient and enjoyable. “Design not only serves the public but also serves the designers themselves.” D-mart aims to bridge designers and the public\, exploring the limitless possibilities of design together. \nThe exhibition will showcase 40 outstanding projects across four categories: 2D/3D animation\, games\, interactive multimedia and film/video production. Everyone from the university community is warmly invited to visit and enjoy this vibrant showcase of creativity and innovation.

Perspectives Audio-Vusial Art
身體成為感知的場域\n聲響與影像不再服務於敘事而是直抵直覺 \n解構並重塑\n我們對當代藝術與表演的想像無須尋找歸屬 \n因為此刻，這場共振就是歸屬 \n拋開定義\n讓聲音、影像、身體與空間共構一場超越既定範疇的即時對話—無標籤，無界限，只留下未定義的當下 \n\n\n\n\nUntitled\, Undefined: The Boundless Realm of Audio-Visual Art \nIn an era overwhelmed by labels\,where they infiltrate our identities\, thoughts\, and creations\,even shaping our perception of the world— \nWe are categorized\, defined. At times\, we seek belonging within these labels. At times\, we reduce ourselves to fit into predefined contexts\,until we become mere symbols\, simplified and constrained. \nBut do human beings truly need to be classified? \nWhen boundaries begin to blur\,when sound and image intertwine and evolve\,must we still adhere to predetermined frameworks? \nThis event is not just a live performance—it is an experiment in thought and perception.A collective exploration by artists\,examining the fluid relationship between sound\, image\, and space. \nHere\, different mediums and diverse styles collide\,generating an unnamed visual and auditory language. The body becomes a field of perception\,while sound and image break free from narrative constraints\,reaching directly into intuition. \nDeconstruct and reconstruct—reshape our imagination of contemporary art and performance. There is no need to seek belonging. \nBecause in this moment\, this resonance is belonging. \nLet go of definitions.Let sound\, image\, body\, and space co-create an immediate dialoguebeyond established boundaries—No labels\, no limits\,only the undefined present. \n【Artist／藝術家介紹】 \nByetone（Olaf Bender） \n\n\n\n\n \nBorn in Karl-Marx-Stadt\, East Germany\, in 1968\, Olaf Bender began his creative journey experimenting with 16mm film. His passion for geometric motion and avant-garde expression led him to join the experimental music group AG Geige in 1988. \nAfter the fall of the Berlin Wall\, Bender co-founded the influential Raster-Noton label in 1999\, merging sound and visual art with iconic minimalist design.Under the moniker Byetone\, Bender gained recognition for his energy-driven\, minimalist electronic music\, highlighted in acclaimed releases likeDeath of a Typographer (2008) and Symeta (2011). \nHe has collaborated on sound projects for renowned fashion designers and formed the duoDiamond Version with Carsten Nicolai.Currently managing the rebranded Raster label\, Bender continues to push boundaries with innovative installations and cross-disciplinary artprojects. 以Byetone之名發表《Death of a Typographer》（2008）與《Symeta》（2011），確立獨特的極簡電子音樂風格。 \nMilian Mori \n \nMori shares his deep interest in combining mathematics\, geometry and data with emotion\, dance and fulfillment: technology meets nature\, binary meets fluids\, algorithm meets spirituality\, dualism meets triality\, machine meets human\, randomness meets self similarity. \nAll of his works are trying to open the space which exceeds dualism. His art doesn’t want to answer\, nor does it aim to question. His debut album AS YOU WERE LISTENING is being released via the Raster Media platform\, and captures the spirit of his previous works as well as establishing a new vision in which he endeavours to fuse pop culture with the art world. \nIn AS YOU WERE LISTENING he’s using the distinct language of dub techno whilst attempting to expand the genre’s vocabulary with new changes\, elements and aesthetics. Mori has been involved in numerous collaborations and a wide array of arts projects\, as well as working as a composer\, DIY installation artist\, sound designer\, recording and sound engineer. \n首張專輯《AS YOU WERE LISTENING》由Raster Media發行，以dub techno為語言，並融入全新元素與美學，探索流行文化與藝術世界的交匯。 \nBorn in 1999 in Hsinchu\, he is an artist specializing in interactive art\, sound and installations. \nPassionate about experimental sound\, his installation works often explore the spatiality of sound\, sound generation mechanisms and signal translation. Comprising exceptional musicians from Taiwan Connection and the Taipei Symphony Orchestra\, the quartet is renowned for its precision and artistry\, consistently earning accolades from audiences and critics alike. \nSince 2018\, Artrich String Quartet has been an annual highlight of the Eslite Chamber Music Festival. In 2024\, they launched a six-year Shostakovich project\, tackling the composer’s highly acclaimed string quartet cycle\, hailed as the most significant since Beethoven’s. This ambitious endeavor marks a bold step in their pursuit of chamber music mastery. \nThis year\, the quartet presents Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 3 in F major\, Op. 73\, composed shortly after World War II. The piece juxtaposes a seemingly celebratory opening with deeper undertones of irony\, melancholy\, and self-reflection. \nThe second half of the concert features a collaborative performance of Tchaikovsky’s String Sextet in d minor\, Op. 70\, Souvenir de Florence\, with renowned violist Tsai Bing-Chang and cellist Kao Ping-Kun. Composed in Tchaikovsky’s later years\, this final chamber work combines symphonic grandeur with intricate solo passages\, blending the splendor of Italian Renaissance artistry with distinctive Slavic musical elements. \n2025: A Milestone Celebration \nMarking the 10th anniversary of the Eslite Chamber Music Festival\, the Artrich String Quartet opens the festival with two iconic Russian works. SUMMARY:黑眼睛跨劇團 Dark Eyes Performance Lab《末日前的冬之旅 Journey into the Apocalypse》
\nFranz Schubert’s Winterreise\, a song cycle\, is a cherished gem of classical music and a perfect union of music and poetry. With his richly varied and expressive musical style\, Schubert sets to music 24 poems by German poet Wilhelm Müller\, portraying the journey of a heartbroken wanderer. \nIn the production\, Winterreise is reimagined by Dark Eyes Performance Lab’s artistic director and poet Hung Hung\, who brings its subtle poetry to life. In addition to presenting this tale of doomed love as a complete stage narrative\, he charts a course from contemporary Taiwan to an apocalyptic future\, recasting the work as an allegory of civilization and societal evolution. \nThe entire production transforms the stage into a dreamlike spectacle where sun dogs\, green fields and destruction intertwine. Characters survive\, play\, work and struggle in this world\, while fleeting glimpses of hope occasionally emerge. Schubert’s exquisite and profound music becomes the greatest source of comfort and ultimate redemption. The stage design by Liao Yin-chiao\, in collaboration with images and lighting\, creates an incredible visual experience of light and shadow. The dance segments\, choreographed by Yu Yan-fang and performed by Tian Xiao-ci\, offer a unique perspective. What audiences most anticipate is the presentation of the production in two versions! \nJourney into the Apocalypse will be presented in two versions: the classical version\, A Timeless Reproduction of the Classic\, featuring baritone Zhao Fang-hao performing Schubert’s original German version with piano accompaniment; and the jazz version\, Rebirth through Jazz\, with jazz singer Mars Lin (Lin Li-hui) performing a new Taiwanese version arranged by Xie Ming-yan. In addition to experiencing Schubert’s music in its original and timeless form\, audiences will also be immersed in a bold\, contemporary jazz reinterpretation. From blending musical genres to transcending language barriers\, the performers take on the role of wanderers\, traversing the changing tides of time\, emotional shifts\, and the transition between languages and music. Like a storyteller bridging the past and present\, this performance not only offers a re-interpretation of the classic but also an adventurous fusion of Taiwanese literature and music. \n報名 To apply：https://www.opentix.life/event/1871397628185849857
