Invisible Worlds: A Journey of Exoplanetary Exploration
\nBeyond our familiar Solar System\, is there another “Earth” hidden among the vast sea of stars? In the invisible depths of the cosmos\, is life also quietly emerging? To explore one of the most fascinating topics in modern astronomy\, the Taipei Astronomical Museum will host a special expert lecture titled “Invisible Worlds: A Journey of Exoplanetary Exploration” on Sunday\, April 26\, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We are honored to invite Dr. Shang-Min Tsai\, Assistant Research Fellow from the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Academia Sinica\, to lead us across light-years and unveil the mysteries of distant alien worlds. \nIn recent decades\, breakthroughs in observation technology have led to the discovery of thousands of exoplanets orbiting other stars. However\, these planets do not emit light themselves\, making them nearly impossible to detect next to their brilliant host stars. In this lecture\, Dr. Tsai will explain how astronomers utilize cutting-edge techniques like the “Transit Method” to precisely capture the faint traces of these hidden worlds. From the scorching surfaces of “Hot Jupiters” (giant gas planets) to “Earth-like planets” with the potential to harbor life\, the lecture will showcase the stunning diversity of exoplanets and share the latest groundbreaking observations in the scientific community. \nAdmission is free\, and we cordially invite anyone interested in astronomy and space exploration to attend. Registration is now open via the “Event News” section on the Taipei Astronomical Museum’s official website. Seats are limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Don’t miss this rare opportunity for a journey of scientific discovery!
