Origin Journey
Classical Aesthetics with a Century-Old Underground Water Palace \n台北還有秘境？ \nIs there still a hidden gem in Taipei? Yes\, there is an underground palace concealed in Gongguan. \nThe “Guanyinshan Reservoir” is part of the “Taipei Water Park” designated as a municipal historic site. Hidden on the small Guanyinshan in Gongguan\, it unveils an underground palace right in the city center. \nBy the end of 2020\, it even became the runway for models during the “World Fashion Week”! Don’t miss the chance to create beautiful memories at this century-old underground monument! \nThe main structure of the Guanyinshan Reservoir is a semi-underground symmetrical design\, featuring meandering flow-guiding walls inside. The walkways are flanked by a Greek column style with one large pillar and eleven smaller ones on each side\, creating a deep visual effect. \nThis architecturally stylish building offers a glimpse into the scenery of the Japanese colonial period\, making it feel as though you are walking through a time tunnel. Long Time No See\, the Long-Awaited Morning Walk \n散步，是一件很浪漫的事，當然也可以說是一種輕鬆的舒壓法。 \nWalking is a very romantic activity and can also be seen as a relaxing way to relieve stress. \nIt’s been a while since you’ve taken a stroll around the campus at 8am\, hasn’t it? \nLooking back at the days when we rushed to catch the bus and get to class early in the morning\, life might have been hectic back then. \nHowever\, now we can make walking more interesting by listening and engaging our senses\, allowing ourselves to be more present and deeply immersed in the moment. \nZhoushan Road disappearing from the Map? \nIt is rare for an urban street in Taiwan to undergo such a transformation as Zhoushan Road. Once a main thoroughfare planned for urban traffic\, it has now become an alternative route and ultimately been redeveloped into a pedestrian walkway lined with trees within a campus. \nAs you walk north along Zhoushan Road\, you will come across another historical site often mentioned in textbooks: the “Liugong Canal Branch”. \nThe waterway next to the ecological pond is the remaining branch of the Liugong Canal\, which once traversed the NTU campus and has a history of over 260 years. \nThe old canal nurtured life and stories\, preserving the waterway branch beside the ecological pond. \nOn Xinsheng South Road\, the excavated canal has transformed the previously indifferent urban environment into a green space centered around people\, bringing greenery into daily life. 雙人散步票 Couple Ticket：NT$850／人 person \n散步路線 Walking Route： \n集合出發 → 晨間散步（時空旅人走訪社科院／消失的舟山路／瑠公圳殘存支線／台大十二美景椰林大道／傅鐘的二十一響／台大校門） → 台北自來水博物館 →  秘境解鎖／地下水宮殿導覽（安排自來水園區導覽老師） → 原地解散 \nAssembly → Morning Walk (Space-time Traveler visits Academia Sinica / Disappeared Zhoushan Road / Remaining Branch of Liugong Canal / Coconut Avenue of Twelve Scenic Spots of NTU / Fu Zhong’s Twenty-One Sounds / NTU Gate) → Taipei Water Museum → Unlocking Secret Spots / Underground Water Palace Tour (guided by a teacher from the Water Park) → Dismissal at the starting point \n＊動線安排將依當天天氣、防疫期間校園開放狀況做彈性調整 The route may be adjusted flexibly according to the weather and campus accessibility during epidemic prevention periods. \n集合解散資訊 Assembly and Dismissal Information： \n集合地點 Assembly Point：08:00 科技大樓捷運站 at Technology Building MRT Station \n解散地點 Dismissal Point：11:30 自來水博物館 at Taipei Water Museum（將視現場導覽時間做調整 adjustments may be made based on tour duration） \n＊最終集合解散資訊，將依行程通知資訊為準 Final assembly and dismissal details will be based on itinerary notifications \n報名 To apply：https://www.accupass.com/eflow/ticket/2405280330152014850098?utm_source=EventPage&utm_medium=AdCard&utm_campaign=accu_AdCard_2405310532494598543320 \n報名須知 Registration Information \n\n本活動限6歲以上兒童或成人報名。 \n\n\nThis activity is open to children aged 6 and above\, as well as adults. Three Years Later\, Where Are You Now? —— “Why Do We Move?” Series of Talks
\nOn the journey of relocation\, you are not alone — come listen to their stories! \nIf you could live by your own free will\, what kind of life would you choose? \nPost-pandemic\, the phenomenon of relocating within the island has become increasingly common. If you also feel the stirrings of a desire to relocate\, come hear what the pioneers on this path have to say. \nSome of them wanted to change their environment and pursue their ideal lifestyle.\nSome sought to start their own business and find the right place for their dreams.\nOthers hoped to leave the city to provide their children with a closer connection to nature. \nIn “Why Do We Move?”\, the stories of relocation pioneers from the “Relocators’ Confessions” section of the Jimi Handbook from 2020 to 2022 are gathered\, and after many years\, they were revisited and followed up\, providing a real depiction of the changes brought by relocation over time. \nTo celebrate the publication\, we invite five groups of relocators from the book to share their stories through two online talks\, one offline discussion\, and a mini book exhibition. They will share their practical and touching life experiences: how to achieve their goals step by step and whether their initial ideals were realized in the process. \nOn the journey of relocation\, you will find what is truly important—\nAre you ready? Ten Years: Finding Myself Through Relocation \n移居從來不是終點，而是起點—— \n移居十年，從台南到台東，原先是位攝影師的阿勳經過多年自立建屋生涯，發現自己原來還是離不開相機；同樣自第一次移居起已過十年，致蕙自新北、苗栗搬到新竹，從仲介業務、自由接案再到自創品牌，持續在路上。 \nRelocation is never the end\, but a beginning — \nAfter ten years of relocation\, from Tainan to Taitung\, 阿勳\, originally a photographer\, discovered that he still couldn’t leave his camera after years of self-sustained living. Similarly\, after ten years since her first relocation\, 致蕙has moved from New Taipei and Miaoli to Hsinchu\, transitioning from real estate agent to freelance work and eventually starting her own brand\, continuously on the move. \nRelocation\, it turns out\, is not the answer. It changes the relationship with oneself more than the external environment.\nWhat have they lost and gained from their relocation? What changes in mindset have occurred?\nWhat do they imagine relocation to be now? Challenge! Starting a Business After Relocation \n如果想移居，開一間書店 or 咖啡店？ \nIf you want to relocate\, how about starting a bookstore or café? \n舜子& Mindy moved from Taipei to downtown Kaohsiung and then to Meinong\, where they started a café. 青樺&治德 finally settled in Zhuangwei\, Yilan\, opening the first independent bookstore in the area. \nThey have gone door to door looking for a café location in the countryside\, exhausted themselves renovating\, and pondered over whether to relocate again due to transportation issues for the bookstore. \nHow do you leave your original living environment to start your own business? What challenges might you face?\nHow do dreams\, children’s growth\, and living conditions intertwine to create new dynamics? 》一本＝NT$630（原價NT$820） \n*【Book Add-on】Register for any online talk to purchase a copy of “Why Do We Move?” at a 30% discount (NT$360\, original price NT$520). \n*【Relocation Package】Two online talks + one copy of “Why Do We Move?” = NT$630 (original price NT$820). Offline Meetup: Relocation\, Then What? \nIn 2015\, Cherry from Hong Kong first set foot in Taiwan for a work interview and fell in love with the place. Design Thinking Workshop
\nThe Design Thinking Beginner Workshop is suitable for participants without a design background. There are no textbooks or syllabi; instead\, using teaching materials from Stanford\, participants will learn to approach various work or life problems from a designer’s perspective through the five-step design thinking process. \nWhether you are working or studying\, you can apply the knowledge learned in the workshop to your workplace or school\, and execute it effectively. \nThe workshop instructor\, Cha Cha\, attended the Stanford d.school in 2016 to study design thinking. She brings the authentic Stanford d.school curriculum into the learning process\, using a step-by-step learning approach that allows participants to easily understand the principles of design thinking. Through games and tasks\, participants learn teamwork\, brain interaction\, and sharing feedback. Together\, they accept challenges and complete time-limited tasks\, resulting in unexpected value-added effects! \nThis is a new form of interactive experiential learning that encourages participants to roll up their sleeves\, use their hands and brains\, and turn ideas into reality. When you go through it once\, you won’t forget it! This is also an experiential learning course highly recommended by HR departments and school teachers. \n課程大綱 Course Outline \n\n設計思考：認識設計思考及歷史典故\n成功案例：設計思考經典案例分享介紹\n動腦挑戰：少說大道理，直接動手做\n思考撞擊：體驗設計思考流程與步驟\n\n\nDesign Thinking: Understanding design thinking and its historical anecdotes\nSuccess Stories: Sharing and introducing classic design thinking cases\nBrain Challenges: Less talk\, more action\nThought Impact: Experience the design thinking process and steps\n\n講師介紹 Instructor Introduction \nCha Cha老師\n目前為查查創意有限公司主理人及國際非營利組織Creative Mornings台北城市代表。 \nCurrently the founder of Cha Cha Creative Co.\, Ltd.\, and Taipei City representative of the international non-profit organization Creative Mornings. \nPreviously served as the COO of Xue Xue\, with years of practical experience in the cultural and creative industries. NUMBER ONE All the Way to NUMBER ONE
All events are free to attend. What else can an art festival do? \nBesides showcasing the beauty of art\, there must be many other things an art festival can achieve. What can we do in 2024\, or what have we yet to accomplish? Given that 2024 is an Olympic year\, what if we use the Olympics as a theme and incorporate the principles of “openness\, vitality\, and creativity” that Play Arts has always upheld? Could this create a new spark? \nThe official motto of the Olympics is “Faster\, Higher\, Stronger”\, which represents the unceasing efforts of athletes. But as artists\, what can we compete in? Perhaps we cannot compete for victory\, but we constantly challenge our limits: the limits of performance ability\, the limits of our works\, the limits of issues\, and the limits of art itself. \nWhat kind of scene would it be if we all challenged our limits together? \nThis Play Arts Festival will use the spirit of the Olympics as an extension of our idea\, focusing on the theme of “Challenging Limits”. Each creator will choose a superlative adjective and interpret or challenge their chosen theme in their own focused form. Inspired by the belief proposed by Pierre de Coubertin\, the founder of the modern Olympics\, in 1936: “The important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part”\, we will actively engage the audience in playful participation. Through C-LAB’s open and innovative platform\, creators will find more possibilities for the issues they have long been concerned with. \nOne Player Short Ensemble\, Myan Myan Studio\, and Chen Jia-sheng Studio will extract and interpret stories that are the most everyday\, the most mysterious\, and the most terrifying; creators Li You-wei\, Kacaw.Iyang\, and Zhou Yi-cheng will continue their focused themes\, using the most LONELY\, the most indifferent\, and the most evil as leads to delve into the core of their issues; Beibu Zone\, BIU Theatre\, and Endospace will challenge their limits with the most dedicated\, the most organic\, and the most original\, aiming for the most direct interactive experiences with different types of audiences. Suana Emuy Cilangasay and Slowisland Theatre will also bring their masterpieces\, sharing the most free and the most important small matters. Finally\, the theatre podcast Intercomパイ and Actor’s Self-Cultivation will provide a full day of nonstop activities in the TAF Zone. \nWe hope that audiences will see the diverse forms of performing arts through these ultimate challenges and that these creations\, with audience participation\, will continue to ferment in every future performance venue\, accompanied by a favorable wind on the boundless road of arts and culture. For more program information\, please visit：\n玩聚場藝術節官方網站 Play Arts Festival Official Website：https://playarts.clab.org.tw/\n玩聚場Facebook Play Arts Facebook：https://www.facebook.com/playarts.clab

Midsummer Viola da Gamba
DESCRIPTION:大鍵琴與維奧爾琴的初遇 \nThe First Encounter Between Harpsichord and Viols \n維奧爾琴（Viols），源自於文藝復興西班牙比維拉琴（Vihuela）的樂器家族，可以理解為放在腿上、用弓拉奏的吉他。 \nThe Viols\, originating from the Renaissance Spanish vihuela family\, can be understood as a guitar played with a bow on one’s lap. It was a very popular instrument during the Renaissance\, with its elegant playing posture highly favored by nobility. Traditionally\, gentlemen and ladies would gather around a table\, each holding a viola da gamba of varying sizes and pitches\, to play beautiful polyphonic music together. \nBy the late 17th century\, musical styles had shifted. Apart from the virtuosic solo viols pieces and its renowned duets\, combinations of bass viola da gamba (viola da gamba) with harpsichord basso continuo began to appear. French composer Marin Marais published five books of viola da gamba suites between 1686 and 1725\, with the first volume’s 1689 reprint including a basso continuo\, setting a new trend. \nMarais’ viola da gamba suites are classics in the repertoire for the instrument\, and French viola da gamba music also influenced the writing of French Baroque harpsichord music. This concert features selected harpsichord pieces by French composers Rameau\, Couperin\, and Duphly\, interspersed with Marais’ viola da gamba suites\, providing a unique auditory feast for the audience. \n楊竣元 Chun-Yuan | 維奧爾琴 Viols \n許舒堯 Alice Sheu | 大鍵琴 Harpsichord \n瑪蘭．馬雷 (1656 – 1728) / 尚 – 菲利浦．拉摩 (1683 – 1764) : a 小調組曲\nMarin Marais / Jean-Philippe Rameau Suite in a\n \n瑪蘭．馬雷 / 尚 – 菲利浦．拉摩 / 賈克．杜菲 : D 大調組曲\nMarin Marais / Jean-Philippe Rameau/ Jacques Duphly (1715 – 1789) : suite in D\n \n安圖萬．佛格雷 :　夏康舞曲　\nAntoine Forquary (1672 – 1745) : Chaconne\n \n演出者簡介 \n楊竣元 Chun-Yuan | 維奧爾琴 Viols \n楊竣元，是台灣第一位專精於古樂演奏的低音提琴演奏家。 \nChun-Yuan is Taiwan’s first double bassist specializing in early music performance.
\nA Tea Ceremony Combining Sound\, Scent\, and Haptic Experience \nExperience an expansive sensory tea ceremony led by sound artist Masahiko Takeda from Kyoto\, Japan. This unique event combines elements of sound\, scent\, and touch to create a profound tea-drinking experience. \nConcept of “Zan”\n“Zan” allows various concrete and abstract experiences to overlap\, enabling us to feel the passage of time. The lingering memories\, the remaining silence\, the residual scent. In literature\, “zancha” often symbolizes the passage of time\, the aftertaste of emotions\, or the subtle beauty of life. \nInspired by the Japanese incense appreciation aesthetics of “cherishing lingering scent and ashes”\, this event integrates the work “CONiCENCE”\, extending the abstract trajectories of “zan” in space. Participants will experience the aftertaste of tea\, connecting scent\, sound\, and touch through their actions\, preserving memories over time. \n \n（照片提供 Photos provided by：武田真彥 Masahiko Takeda，攝影 Photography：Kotone ） \n活動時間與場次 Event Schedule \n日期 Date：2024/08/04（日 Sunday） \n【場次一 Session 1】 13:00~14:30，共1.5小時。 This event offers a sensory tea ceremony experience\, conducted primarily in Japanese and English\, with basic Chinese translation provided. \n藝術家介紹 Artist Introduction \n \n（照片提供 Photos provided by：武田真彥 Masahiko Takeda，攝影 Photography：Tomoko Hayashi (atelier now/here) ） \n武田真彦 | Masahiko Takeda \n1987年出生於日本京都，一位以京都為據點的聲音藝術家。 \nBorn in 1987 in Kyoto\, Japan\, Masahiko Takeda is a sound artist based in Kyoto. Incense can be freely chosen and lit according to the viewer’s mood. From that moment\, people with different purposes connect through time\, senses\, and space. Banana Party
\nThe “Contemporary Banana Farm Project” aims to reduce plastic usage through creative integration: by using renewable materials to create banana bags\, replacing traditional plastic bags\, and reducing environmental pollution. It promotes SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and community participation\, creating an innovative banana plantation area. This project is not only a combination of agriculture and environmental protection but also a cultural and educational exhibition platform. \nSince 2012\, I have been dedicated to promoting the reuse of banners. From 2012 to 2014\, I launched the “Transformative Banners Project” at Huashan 1914 Creative Park\, inviting students from elementary schools\, junior high schools\, high schools\, and universities to participate in banner recycling and creation. Additionally\, in 2016\, I was invited to participate in “Cross Society – Design X Art” at the Museum of Contemporary Art\, Taipei. In 2017\, I received the Social Innovation Field Experiment Plan Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs Small and Medium Enterprise Administration for promoting the “Banner Banana Bag”. Later\, in 2018\, I curated “The Most Beautiful Eco-Friendly Creative Works of Taiwan” at the Taiwan Window in Terminal 2 of Taoyuan International Airport\, showcasing the aesthetics of combining environmental protection and creativity. \nEnvironmental Issues Need Everyone’s Awareness and Collective Effort to Face Them. (The Creation of Artistic Banana Bags) \n1、塗鴉香蕉套袋\n2、展示成果或造型變裝\n3、回收創作品後續將送至香蕉園展示\n（套袋成果將於有春文化FB公佈） \n\nGraffiti Banana Bags\nDisplaying Results or Creative Transformations\nRecycled artworks will be sent to the banana farm for display (Results will be announced on You Chun Culture’s FB)\n\n(三) 香蕉派對，一起吃香蕉補充體力 (Banana Party: Let’s Eat Bananas Together to Replenish Energy) \n每人可以有一份（一入）法式香蕉甜點及茶點享用，需自袋環保杯及餐盒、餐具。 \nEach person will receive one French banana dessert and tea. Through the concepts of creativity and recycling\, You Chun Culture aims to make beautiful affairs naturally moving and to fully utilize resources. Since 2020\, the “Beyond Circles” curatorial format has connected businesses\, local venues\, and international partners to generate creative and environmental solutions across various fields and communities\, promoting long-term and sustained efforts for the Earth’s environment. \nThe story begins in 1924 in Chaozhou\, Pingtung\, with the elder members of the family starting the banana ripening industry from scratch. To bring more attention to Taiwanese agriculture and to prevent Taiwanese fruits from going to waste\, “Mr. Orchard Pinnan Trading” was established. They select quality agricultural products and fruits from across Taiwan\, integrating them into brand offerings like fruit juices\, French desserts\, and coffee.
