Invisible Worlds: A Journey of Exoplanetary Exploration
\nBeyond our familiar Solar System\, is there another “Earth” hidden among the vast sea of stars? In the invisible depths of the cosmos\, is life also quietly emerging? To explore one of the most fascinating topics in modern astronomy\, the Taipei Astronomical Museum will host a special expert lecture titled “Invisible Worlds: A Journey of Exoplanetary Exploration” on Sunday\, April 26\, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We are honored to invite Dr. Shang-Min Tsai\, Assistant Research Fellow from the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Academia Sinica\, to lead us across light-years and unveil the mysteries of distant alien worlds. \nIn recent decades\, breakthroughs in observation technology have led to the discovery of thousands of exoplanets orbiting other stars. However\, these planets do not emit light themselves\, making them nearly impossible to detect next to their brilliant host stars. In this lecture\, Dr. Tsai will explain how astronomers utilize cutting-edge techniques like the “Transit Method” to precisely capture the faint traces of these hidden worlds. From the scorching surfaces of “Hot Jupiters” (giant gas planets) to “Earth-like planets” with the potential to harbor life\, the lecture will showcase the stunning diversity of exoplanets and share the latest groundbreaking observations in the scientific community. \nAdmission is free\, and we cordially invite anyone interested in astronomy and space exploration to attend. Registration is now open via the “Event News” section on the Taipei Astronomical Museum’s official website. Seats are limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Don’t miss this rare opportunity for a journey of scientific discovery!

Exhibition Overview: 2026 Taipei Lantern Festival
\n\n  \n\nThe Lantern Festival\, also known as the Shangyuan Festival\, is a significant celebration in Chinese culture symbolizing reunion and blessings. This tradition dates back to the Han Dynasty. Legend says Emperor Wen of Han designated the 15th day of the first lunar month for nationwide celebration. By the Eastern Han Dynasty\, the custom of lighting lanterns at court and temples spread to the public\, evolving into the vibrant lantern festival culture we know today. Enjoying lantern displays\, solving riddles\, and eating yuanxiao (sweet glutinous rice balls) are not just ways to brighten the night sky—they carry people’s best wishes and expectations for the New Year. \n🏮 From Tradition to Urban Spectacle\nSince its debut at the Ren’ai Roundabout in 1997\, the Taipei Lantern Festival has been a beloved companion to citizens for nearly 30 years. In 2026\, the festival returns with a grand dual-venue showcase at the “Expo Park Zone” and the “Ximen Zone.” \nThrough the connection of these two districts and collaborations with two major international IPs (Intellectual Properties)\, the festival highlights Taipei’s diverse urban charm: \n\n\nExpo Park Zone (Yuanshan): A harmonious blend of culture and nature. \n\n\nXimen Zone: The vibrant heart of youth culture and modern trends. \n\n\n🗺️ Experience the City’s Vitality\nBeyond the stunning lantern installations\, visitors are encouraged to wander through surrounding shopping districts\, visit local attractions\, and savor authentic Taiwanese cuisine. Flickering lights\, the rhythmic chant of fish auctions\, and the bustling energy create a unique symphony for this century-old market. \nWe invite you to join “Pin-Xian-Yu\,” a veteran auctioneer\, to weave through the stalls and unveil the mysteries of the night! \n\n🌊 Highlights of the Midnight Experience\n\n\nA Social Tapestry Full of Warmth: Beyond the cold ice and seafood lies a vibrant community. Follow our professional guide to hear the stories behind every transaction—from the fishermen’s hard work to the clever bidding of merchants. \n\n\nThe Epitome of Heritage: Witness the evolution of Taiwan’s fishing industry from the Japanese colonial era to today. This is more than a marketplace; it is a treasure trove of cultural memories. \n\n\nDecipher the “Auction Riddles”: The auctioneers (known as Tiao-shou) chant with a distinct\, rapid-fire rhythm. Learn the secrets behind these “market codes” and discover the humor and wisdom hidden in the trade. \n\n\nFreshness Up Close: Encounter everything from deep-sea giants to local favorites. Learn expert tips on how to pick the finest fish straight from the source. \n\n\n\n✨ Event Schedule\n\n\n23:00 Meet at “Fortune Commission Store” (福氣委託行) \n\n\nThe Beginner’s Guide: “Secret Masterclass by an Auctioneer” \n\n\nKanziding Market Exploration \n\n\nDuration: Approx. 2 hours \n\n\n\n📍 About the Locations\nFortune Commission Store (福氣委託行)\nLocated near Keelung Station\, the Commission Store district is one of Keelung’s four major revitalization hubs. \n\n\n1F: Features a mural by Cannes Lions designer Li Qin\, telling the history of the district through a “time-travel” narrative. You can find local creative crafts and farm products here. \n\n\n2F: An event space designed like a ship’s cabin by the China University of Technology. Stepping upstairs feels like boarding a grand vessel. \n\n\nKanziding Fish Market\nAt midnight\, while others dim their lights\, Kanziding shines. Established between 1929 and 1931\, it is the largest fish market in Northern Taiwan. It attracts restaurateurs from across the island seeking the freshest catch. The professional auctioneers (Tiao-shou) are the heart of this “intangible cultural heritage.” \nMidnight Delights\nNo night tour is complete without a warm snack! We have prepared Kanziding’s famous popular snacks for every participant to savor the authentic local flavor. \n\n⚠️ Important Reminders\n\n\nStay Warm: Midnight temperatures can be chilly; please bring a jacket. \n\n\nFootwear: The market floor can be wet and slippery. Anti-slip shoes are highly recommended. \n\n\nPunctuality: The tour starts promptly at 23:00. \n\n\nRespect the Workplace: This is an active market. Please follow the guide’s instructions and avoid obstructing the merchants. \n\n\nTransportation: The tour ends in the early morning; please plan your return transportation in advance. \n\n\n\n🔗 Registration & Contact\n\n\nRegistration Link: Sign up on Accupass \n\n\nFacebook: 委託行街區 \n\n\nEmail: keelungveteran@gmail.com \n\n\nPhone: (02) 2428 0558

【Civic Dialogue】Why Do We Resist Patriarchy While Fearing Fatness?
\n  \n#懼胖社會 #身體焦慮 #性別議題 #獨立書店 #台北講座 \n\n  \nThe “Structural Web” Through the Eyes of the Translator of Unshrinking\n“I feel the need to tell you… I am an accomplice to diet culture\, even as I speak out against the constraints of the patriarchal system.” \nThis is perhaps the most shocking and raw confession in the book Unshrinking. 💔 \nAuthor Kate Manne doesn’t speak from a moral high ground. Instead\, she candidly admits her own struggle: her fear of gaining weight\, her history of extreme dieting\, and her past dependence on weight-loss supplements. \nHave we not all stood before the mirror late at night\, feeling that deep sense of anxiety? Driven by “what they say\,” we fear\, look down upon\, or even loathe fatness. To distance ourselves from “being fat\,” we participate—sometimes actively—in actions that devalue fat bodies\, including devaluing ourselves when we gain just a little bit of weight. \nBut if we don’t look directly at this fear\, we will never see the massive “Structural Web” that entangles us. 🕸️ \nFor this event\, we have invited Ko Yun-Ching\, the translator of Unshrinking. Through the process of translation\, she has chewed over every word of this struggle. We invite you to join us and discuss that contradictory self—the one who “reads feminist theory while standing on a scale”—and share your thoughts on this book of both pain and liberation. \nLet’s try to understand the fear\, and then\, face ourselves. \n\n👇 Event Information\n\n\nTopic: Why Do We Resist Patriarchy While Fearing Fatness? The Structural Web Through the Eyes of the Translator of Unshrinking. \n\n\nSpeaker: Ko Yun-Ching (Translator of Unshrinking) \n\n\nTime: Feb 7 (Sat)\, 14:30 – 16:00 \n\n\nVenue: Civic Bookstore (No. 25\, Sec. 4\, Civic Blvd\, Songshan Dist.\, Taipei City) \n\n\nFee: NT$300 per person (Includes one drink) \n\n\nRegistration: Sign up on Accupass \n\n\n\n🎙️ About the Speaker: Ko Yun-Ching\nKo Yun-Ching holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a Master’s in Sociology from National Taiwan University (NTU). She is currently the Deputy Executive Director of the Taiwan Alliance for Innocent Convicted and a freelance translator. Recently\, she returned to academia at the Graduate Institute of Interdisciplinary Legal Studies at NTU. \nShe has translated 11 books\, including: \n\n\nUnshrinking: How to Face Fatphobia \n\n\nThe Smart Wife: Why Siri\, Alexa\, and Other Smart Home Devices Need a Feminist Design \n\n\nThe Multiples: The Hopes and Risks of Assisted Reproduction \n\n\n\n#CivicBookstore #Unshrinking #BodyAnxiety #GenderIssues #IndependentBookstore #TaipeiTalks

So Wonderful!"
、MOJOIN、Renta！ \n\n\n  \n《2026台北國際書展 售票資訊》\n\n票價\n \n\n\n\n售票資訊\n\n預售票：即日起-2026.2.2\n展期票：2026.2.3-2.8\n★搶先買預售票可兌換【書展X湛盧咖啡】聯名濾掛式咖啡包 \n售票通路\nibon   機台/售票系統 ( 點此購買 )\nKlook 售票系統 ( 點此購買 ) \nThailand as Guest of Honor — Exploring the Boundless Magic of Reading\nThe 2026 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE)\, organized by the Ministry of Culture and coordinated by the Taipei Book Fair Foundation\, will take place from February 3 to February 8\, 2026\, at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Exhibition Hall 1. \nUnder the theme “Reading is Oh! \n2026 Lunar New Year in Taipei: Dihua Street and Beyond\nExperience the Grandest New Year Market from Jan 31 to Feb 15\nAs the Lunar New Year approaches\, Taipei’s most iconic shopping tradition officially begins! Japanese Masters Are Here! Miso × Rice Koji Brewing
DESCRIPTION:【味噌 Miso Making】 \n兩個時段 Two sessions： \n1/30（五 Fri）10:00~12:30（2.5hr）\n1/31（六 Sat）10:00~12:30（2.5hr） \n課程費用$3\,000包含 Course Fee: NT$3\,000 (includes)： \n\n老師來台教學費用／機票／住宿\n即時口譯專家費\n百年老店米麴\n有機黃豆、海鹽\n製作說明書\n3L提桶\n示範味噌餐點試吃\n課後每人可帶回「3公斤自製味噌」\n\n\n\nInstructor’s teaching fee in Taiwan / airfare / accommodation \n\n\nProfessional simultaneous interpretation \n\n\nRice koji from a century-old Japanese producer \n\n\nOrganic soybeans and sea salt \n\n\nStep-by-step instruction booklet \n\n\n3-liter fermentation bucket \n\n\nTasting of demonstration miso dishes \n\n\nEach participant may take home 3 kg of homemade miso \n\n\n是的，大豆、鹽、米麴就這簡簡單單的三樣，只要願意按步就班、耐心對待，『時間』就是那把祕密鑰匙，能開啟一份純粹的芬芳甘美滋味。 \nYes—just three simple ingredients: soybeans\, salt\, and rice koji. By following each step carefully and treating the process with patience\, time becomes the secret key that unlocks a pure\, fragrant\, and gently sweet flavor. \nWith a shy smile set aside\, Master Tetsuya speaks sincerely and earnestly: miso’s nutritional value is well known\, yet many people assume miso is an everyday staple in Japanese life and therefore easy to find. In reality\, it is rare to encounter truly pure\, additive-free miso in Japan—most commercial miso is made using accelerated methods. \nTo achieve a pleasing color\, vitamin B is added; to enhance sweetness\, amino acids are included; to extend shelf life\, alcohol is used to inhibit fermentation. For this reason\, he has spent years teaching people how to make miso\, with a simple wish: that more people are willing to make this uncomplicated food themselves\, so everyone can eat more healthily. \nMaster Tetsuya has a deep fondness for Taiwan. Observing its warm climate\, he firmly believes that the best season for making miso by hand in Taiwan is from late autumn to early spring. \n【釀酒 Rice Koji Brewing】 \n兩個時段 Two sessions： \n1/30（五 Fri）15:00~17:00（2hr）\n1/31（六 Sat）15:00~17:00（2hr） \n課程費用NT$3\,000包含 Course Fee: NT$3\,000 (includes)： \n\n老師來台教學費用／機票／住宿\n即時口譯專家費\n米麴／代蒸煮的米飯\n製作說明書\n2L玻璃瓶\n示範餐點試吃\n課後每人可帶回「一桶2.5公升瓶裝米酒」\n\n\n\nInstructor’s teaching fee in Taiwan / airfare / accommodation \n\n\nProfessional simultaneous interpretation \n\n\nRice koji / pre-steamed rice \n\n\nInstruction booklet \n\n\n2-liter glass bottle \n\n\nTasting of demonstration dishes \n\n\nEach participant may take home one 2.5-liter bottle of homemade rice koji \n\n\n2016年冬季首度邀請碇哲也師傅來簡單喜悅教導分享「自家の味噌製作」課程，老師的神秘嘉賓、摯友田村先生前來協助課程，這才知道田村先生既是調酒師也是釀酒師傅。 \nIn the winter of 2016\, Master Tetsuya Ikari was invited for the first time to teach and share the joy of “homemade miso making”. His surprise guest and close friend\, Mr. Tamura\, assisted with the class\, revealing that he is both a professional bartender and a skilled brewer. \nThis year’s Doburoku (cloudy rice wine) and amazake brewing course is different from previous years. It introduces a more advanced and enriched multi-stage fermentation method\, making it especially fascinating. Returning participants are warmly welcome to join and learn again! \n(Note: “Doburoku” refers to homemade unfiltered rice wine. In Japan\, alcohol production is still regulated under a government monopoly system.) \nIt is worth highlighting that Mr. Tamura uses Ikari-san’s rice koji for brewing. He has won first place in the Doburoku competition for two consecutive years\, and this year the runner-up was also claimed by one of his own apprentices—truly a joyful achievement. \nSinger Karamushi-san also performed live at the event. At such a moment\, what more could one ask for in life? \n(Note: Karamushi-san is from Atsugi\, Kanagawa\, and is Ikari-san’s elder brother. A powerful reggae vocalist who expresses the spirit of reggae through freestyle performance\, he advocates “ASIA UNITE”.) \nThis is a specially designed brewing course taught by Mr. Hiroshi Tamura\, guiding participants in how to use quality rice koji to brew rice wine by hand. Each participant will work alongside the instructor and may take home their own 2-liter bottle of homemade rice wine upon completion. A Dream of Light and Flowers! Mika Ninagawa’s Largest Overseas Exhibition: "Light of the Other Side\, Shadows of this Side"
\n《彼岸之光，此岸之影》票價整理\n \nA Dream of Light and Flowers! Mika Ninagawa’s Largest Overseas Exhibition: “Light of the Other Side\, Shadows of this Side”\nLimited Engagement in Taipei\nIf you’ve ever been mesmerized by vibrant seas of flowers and dreamlike interplays of light and shadow on social media\, you are undoubtedly familiar with Mika Ninagawa. A master of contemporary Japanese art\, her bold colors and unique visual language—known as “Ninagawa Aesthetics”—have taken the world by storm\, spanning photography\, film\, fashion\, and immersive spatial installations. \nThe Largest Overseas Solo Exhibition to Date\nEarlier this year\, her exhibition in Kyoto\, “Mika Ninagawa with EiM: Light of the Other Side\, Shadows of this Side\,” attracted over 250\,000 visitors in just two months. Now\, the exhibition makes its overseas debut in Taipei! Opening next January at Huashan 1914 Creative Park\, this marks Ninagawa’s return to Taipei after 10 years and stands as her most ambitious overseas project to date. \nIs it a Dream or Reality?\nBuilding on the acclaim of the Kyoto show\, Ninagawa has collaborated with the creative tech team EiM (Eternity in a Moment) to craft an unprecedented immersive experience. The exhibition explores the intersections of light and shadow\, life and death\, and reality and dreams. It transcends traditional photography by blending images\, 3D installations\, and digital technology into a fluid\, ethereal sanctuary. \nCapturing the Secret Beauty of Taipei\nTrue to her philosophy\, Ninagawa insists on authentic photography\, capturing the fleeting beauty of city corners and natural light rather than relying on computer-generated imagery (CGI). Excitingly\, the Taipei stop will feature exclusive local elements\, weaving the story of this city into a one-of-a-kind narrative. \nEight Worlds Blooming Simultaneously\nStep inside and experience eight distinct realms: \n\n\n“Breath of Life”: Feel the resonance between the city and yourself through shimmering urban waterscapes. \n\n\n“Blooming Emotions”: Awaken hidden feelings amidst a boundless sea of flowers. \n\n\n“Liberation and Obsession”: Confront inner struggles and raw passion. \n\n\n“Dream of the Abyss”: An endless 720-degree LED landscape where cherry blossoms\, fireworks\, and the sea swirl together in a mirrored幻境 (phantasmagoria). \n\n\n“Whispers of Light\, Dreams of Color”: A “breathing rainbow world” featuring over 2\,000 crystal strands. As you enter\, butterflies\, flowers\, and hearts shimmer through refracted light\, evoking a kaleidoscope of childhood memories. \n\n\n🎟️ Mika Ninagawa with EiM: Ticketing Information\n1. Special Exhibition: Animal Companions
\n展覽資訊 \n展覽期間:2026-01-17~2026-04-06 9:00-17:00 \n活動地點:臺北市士林區至善路二段221號(國立故宮博物院) 第一展覽館 210室 \n  \nSpecial Exhibition: Animal Companions\nExploring the Bonds Between Humans and Animals through Ancient Art \nThe relationship between humans and animals has always been an inseparable theme in art and literature. The special exhibition “Animal Companions” invites you to explore the diverse roles and emotions captured by artists throughout history. From simple domestic ties to deep spiritual connections\, this collection reveals the many facets of our interaction with the animal kingdom. \nExhibition Themes\n\n\nSymbols of Fortune & Faith: Animals often appear as auspicious symbols or divine pets of deities\, embodying human aspirations for luck\, prosperity\, and the supernatural. \n\n\nReflections of Social Status: From majestic steeds that display wealth and power to the humble donkeys accompanying scholars in their simple\, virtuous lives\, animals serve as vivid portraits of their owners’ identities and social standing. \n\n\nHeartfelt Interactions: The most touching part of the exhibition lies in the genuine emotional bonds: a cowherd playing with his water buffalo\, a groom and his horse huddling together against a gale\, or a cherished house cat in a lady’s private chamber. These works capture a wordless tacit understanding\, showing how animals evolved from laborers into beloved friends. \n\n\nA Vision of an “Ideal Home”\nWhether it is chicks strolling in a farmhouse courtyard\, a curious puppy greeting visitors in a peach-blossom utopia\, or horses galloping across vast grasslands—animals are indispensable companions in the human quest for an “ideal home.” We hope this exhibition allows you to rediscover and cherish the beautiful\, symbiotic bond we share with our animal companions. \n\nExhibition Information\n\n\nDates: January 17\, 2026 – April 6\, 2026 \n\n\nHours: 09:00 AM – 05:00 PM \n\n\nVenue: National Palace Museum\, Gallery 210\, Exhibition Building I \n\n\nAddress: No. 221\, Sec. 2\, Zhishan Rd.\, Shilin Dist.\, Taipei City

Lanting Obsession: Nine Historical Figures Infatuated with the Lanting Preface
\n  \n\n\n\n項目 (Item)\n資訊 (Information)\n\n\n\n\n展覽名稱\n蘭亭癖——九位醉心〈蘭亭序〉的帝王、權臣與文人雅士\n\n\nEnglish Title\nLanting Obsession: Nine Historical Figures Infatuated with the Lanting Preface\n\n\n展覽日期 (Dates)\n2026/01/16 – 2026/04/06\n\n\n展覽地點 (Location)\n國立故宮博物院 北部院區 正館 212 陳列室 (Room 212\, Main Building\, NPM Northern Branch)\n\n\n門票 (Admission)\n需購買故宮門票入場 (Standard NPM museum ticket)\n\n\n推薦對象 (Target)\n對書法、藝術史、文學有興趣之學生\n\n\n\n  \n“The Lanting Preface (Orchid Pavilion Preface) has long been revered as the ‘Number One Running Script’ in the world. Since the Tang Dynasty\, it has served as the definitive model for learners and calligraphers alike. Legend has it that the original manuscript\, prized and adored by Emperor Taizong of Tang (598–649)\, was buried with him in the Zhaoling Mausoleum and has never been seen since. Furthermore\, the tale that Wang Xizhi (303–361) attempted to rewrite it ‘hundreds of times after sobering up\, yet none could match the original’ likely contributed to its enduring popularity and status as a timeless masterpiece. \nThroughout Chinese history\, there have been countless devotees infatuated with the Lanting Preface. This exhibition focuses on nine prominent calligraphers and collectors—ranging from emperors and powerful ministers to refined scholars—spanning nearly a millennium. What they shared was an extraordinary emotional attachment and obsession with the Lanting Preface\, expressed through their collecting of rubbings\, the creation of calligraphic copies\, and the composition of poetic tributes. Weng Fanggang (1733–1818)\, a renowned epigraphist of the Qing Dynasty\, termed this unique aesthetic and cultural trend ‘Lanting Obsession’ (Lanting Pi). \nAre you also an admirer of the Lanting Preface?” \n“The ‘Lanting Obsession’ exhibition invites you into the most legendary chapter of Chinese calligraphy history. From the mysterious disappearance of the original Lanting Preface to the centuries of fascination by emperors and scholars\, this exhibition reveals calligraphy as more than just writing—it is a lifelong passion that has spanned generations. It’s a feast of history\, aesthetics\, and cultural power\, and we highly encourage you to explore it and experience the allure of the ‘Number One Running Script’ firsthand.” \n\n\n\nFeature\nDetails\n\n\n\n\nThe Legend\nThe Lanting Preface is considered the “Number One Running Script” in Chinese calligraphy history.\n\n\nThe Obsession\nThe exhibition focuses on nine historical figures (emperors\, scholars\, officials) and their lifelong obsession with copying and collecting this masterpiece.\n\n\nWhy Visit\nIt provides a deep dive into how calligraphy was used not just for writing\, but as a status symbol and a core element of cultural identity throughout history.\n\n\nPro-tip\nThe exhibition includes rare pieces like the letter from Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty to Yue Fei\, showing the direct influence of the Lanting Preface on his writing style.\n\n\n\n
