The Luminous Paradise of Chang Li-Yeh
\nEthereal Bloom – The Luminous Paradise of Chang Li-Yeh presents a radiant world where blossoms shimmer in divine light and fantastical creatures roam under deep blue skies. Inspired by his painting Blossoming Tree\, this exhibition captures the sacred beauty and fleeting sorrow of life at its most vibrant. \nFeaturing works from the past decade\, including the series Butterfly Man\, Fairy Tale Paradise\, Animism and Aura\, the show traces Chang’s journey from whimsical dreamscapes to spiritual utopias. Alongside these are his early newspaper per illustrations and expressive series like Self-Portrait and Social Outcast\, revealing a transformation from raw\, intuitive forms to intricate\, symbolic compositions. \nCurated by Huang Chih-Wei\, the exhibition explores the idea of “ephemeral dreams”—moments that sparkle and vanish like morning dew. In worlds filled with playful monsters\, sacred animals\, and floating blossoms\, time stretches and folds. Ethereal Bloom invites visitors to wander through Chang’s luminous landscapes and glimpse the artist’s innermost visions of joy\, loss and renewal. \nChang Li-Yeh was born in Chiayi. He graduated from the Department of Sociology at Soochow University in Taiwan. In his youth\, he developed a love for reading and writing literature and poetry. Like many budding artists\, he enjoyed doodling and habitually filled every blank space in his textbooks\, which ultimately became an indelible “bad habit”. This tendency shaped his subconscious\, leading to the brimming\, compact imagery found in his paintings today. Perhaps it is precisely this “bad habit” that contributes to the unique characteristics of his work. \nChang’s early works centered on social issues\, portraying the struggles of marginalized communities. His Betel Nut Beauty series explored the objectification of young women in Taiwan’s industrial cities\, while Landslide reflected on climate change and ecological destruction. These works captured the raw\, often surreal contradictions of human nature and politics. \nIn recent years\, his focus has turned inward\, exploring the subconscious. He reimagines the body and soul as a microcosm of emotions\, memories\, and desires. His figures morph and flow\, their limbs entwined with mountains\, rivers\, and blooming landscapes—an intimate fusion of self and nature. In the Butterfly Man series\, he reflects on love\, longing and memory\, while the Small Universe series builds a connection between the body and the natural world\, creating a sanctuary where every tree\, stream\, and peak resonates with harmony.\n\n仙樹，2020，162 X 226cm，油彩、畫布 \n\n蝴蝶人-5，2014，112 X 145cm，壓克力、麥克筆、畫布 \n\n萬物有靈，2016，45 X 45cm，壓克力、畫布

SUMMARY:行者十步 Footprints of the Walker：蔡明亮 Tsai Ming-Liang
\nThe Walker is more than a pilgrim through time and space\, it’s the transformation of imagery. \nIn 2011\, while rehearsing the stage play Only You\, in the monologue The Fish of Lee Kang-sheng: The Journey in the Desert\, Lee walked at an extremely slow pace for just a few meters. He shifts between the roles of Tsai Ming-liang’s father and the Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang. This movement profoundly affected Tsai. These steps both suspended and advanced the forward motion. It encapsulated the essence of the decades-long collaboration between Tsai and Lee. It also planted the seed for the open form of cinema Tsai has been nurturing. \nIf Lee’s slow walk is the crystallization of his years of collaboration with Tsai\, then The Walker series\, which they completed between 2012 and 2024\, can be seen as a grand artistic journey across disciplines\, realized through Lee ’s embodiment of a red-robed monk in slow\, deliberate motion. \nThis series includes ten films of varying lengths—No Form\, Walker\, Sleepwalk\, Diamond Sutra\, Walking on Water\, Journey to the West\, No No Sleep\, Sand\, Where\, and Abiding Nowhere—as well as the stage play The Monk from Tang Dynasty. Additionally\, it extends into cinematic exhibitions such as No No Sleep at MoNTUE －Tsai Ming-Liang Solo Exhibition\, Walker\, Tsai Ming-Liang at the Zhuangwei Dune Visitor Center and A Quest at the Centre Pompidou. Together\, they explore the fusion of film and space. \nFootprints of the Walker: Tsai Ming-Liang refers to the ten films\, pointing to this body of work inspired by the 17-year-long journey of Xuanzang in search of sutras from India. Over the past decade\, The Walker series has set foot not only in Taipei\, Yunlin\, and Yilan but also Hong Kong\, Kuching\, and Tokyo\, and extended as far as Marseille\, Paris and Washington D.C. Through long takes\, the films depict the monk’s journey outward from Taipei in meditative movement—from the inner self to the broader world. \nWithin the gallery space\, these films do not exist independently but interconnect to form an organic whole. Presented alongside paper\, sutras\, mirrors\, chairs\, sketches\, paintings\, objects\, and archival materials\, an immersive visual environment is created through multi-screen installations and video art. Light and shadow\, color and texture\, missed encounters and fateful meetings\, life and illusion\, the finite and the infinite—these elements weave together to shape the unique world of the Walker. \nFootprints of the Walker: Tsai Ming-Liang symbolizes the artistic transformation of Tsai as a director\, opening up a new cinematic pilgrimage. Imagine the ancient monk from Chang’an who\, defying the imperial decree\, set out resolutely on his westward journey in search of the Dharma. Similarly\, Tsai uses film as his scripture\, moving between cinema\, theater and exhibition spaces\, continuously  searching beyond spatial\, media\, and artistic boundaries—to carve out a Walker’s path that gazes upon time itself.

SUMMARY:Reflection：想法的實相世界 The Reality of Thought｜七人聯展 Seven-Person Group Exhibition
\n昔日的夢想 化為現實 生活著 \n\n\n現實 化為昔日的夢想 生活著 \n—希望之路，p.74 \n“Reflection” signifies the return and projection of energy. It can refer to a mirrored image\, an expression\, or a deep\, deliberate contemplation. There exists a dynamic interplay between the external world and an individual’s inner thoughts. What we see and hear shapes what we think and how we act; conversely\, our actions and words often reveal our inner world. Just as a face is reflected in water\, so a person’s heart reflects the person. (Proverbs 27:19) \nTo live is to think and feel. As we journey through life\, we face waves of anxiety\, frustration and disappointment. Yet after the storm\, we also experience calm\, joy\, accomplishment and a sense of peace. Along this path\, artistic creation becomes the fruit of careful thought—manifesting chosen themes and stylistic expressions. Whether through abstract brushstrokes and color blocks\, figurative portraits and objects\, flowing images\, or hand-drawn lines\, these works are a reflection of constant self-exploration amidst life’s challenges and the persistent pursuit of growth and elevation through everyday reflection. \nThe world’s political and economic climate parallels the challenges of individual and family life. Just as the world influences people\, so too can people influence the world. Everything has its order\, and that order is from God. As we dedicate ourselves with sincerity and effort\, God blesses us in return. Our actions shape what we receive. Reflection is not only the reality of thoughts\, but also the assurance of faith in life. May this exhibition allow you to experience a reflection of God’s love\, the stirring of the Holy Spirit\, and the peace of the Son\, Jesus. \nYesterday’s dreams have become today’s reality—alive in life.Today’s reality becomes yesterday’s dreams—alive in life.—from The Road of Hope\, p.74 \n開放時間 Opening Hours：週二–週日 Tuesday to Sunday 09:00 – 17:00（週一、端午節休館 Closed on Mondays and Dragon Boat Festival）展期最末日開放至14:00 Open until 14:00 on the final day \n費用 Fee：免費 Free

SUMMARY:傳播學院 School of Communication｜110級聯合畢展 Class of 2021 Joint Graduation Exhibition《夢蝣 Dreammayfly》
\nThe School of Communication’s Class of 2021 Joint Graduation Exhibition\, titled “Dreammayfly”\, will take place from May 30 to June 1 at Bopiliao Historic Block in Wanhua\, Taipei (Performance Hall\, No. 153–155\, Guangzhou Street\, Wanhua Dist.\, Taipei City). This exhibition brings together students from four departments within School of Communication: RTV\, ADSM\, New Media and Communication Administration\, and Audiovisual Journalism and Social Media Communication. It marks the first joint graduation exhibition under School of Communication in eight years\, and the first since the departments began separate admissions in the 2014 academic year. \nThe theme “Dreammayfly” fuses the notions of “dream” and “mayfly”. A dream signifies a beginning\, while the mayfly symbolizes perseverance. Though each student may seem insignificant on their own\, when united\, their collective creativity becomes a powerful force capable of changing the world. The mayfly’s short lifespan is intense and vibrant—much like the passion and dedication communication students pour into their craft. Despite long nights of editing or countless rounds of brainstorming\, they persist with courage and resilience. \nThe exhibition features works in two main categories: Thesis and Multimedia. \nIn the Thesis category: \n\n\n“A Study on College Students’ Media Dependence and Digital Usage Patterns” explores students’ reliance on social platforms and the positive and negative effects shaped by their usage preferences. \n\n\n“Disaster Narratives and Audience Experience in Makoto Shinkai’s Animated Trilogy” examines how visual and auditory elements create emotional resonance and impact viewers’ thoughts and feelings. \n\n\nIn the Multimedia category: \n\n\nPodcast projects such as “Light Through the Cracks” delve into social issues from psychological and humanitarian perspectives\, incorporating stories from individuals\, experts and volunteers\, as well as relevant media and interviews to inspire listeners with real-life experiences. \n\n\n“Take Love With You” focuses on the power of accurate information and goodwill in modern society\, conveying the core belief that even small actions can lead to meaningful change. \n\n\nDocumentary: “Hands of Craft” highlights Taiwan’s traditional artisans. Through in-depth interviews and footage\, it portrays how handcraft professionals strive to preserve their art in a fast-paced world dominated by technology and automation\, while navigating the challenges of economic pressure. \nHorizontal short film: “Compass” tells a story of growth\, pressure and self-discovery. Combining live-action footage with 2D animation\, it presents a second-dimensional character as a guide\, leading viewers to uncover forgotten inner stories. \nThe exhibition also incorporates immersive experiences\, structured around three thematic stages: \n\n\n“The Egg｜Birth” \n\n\n“The Nymph｜Exploration” \n\n\n“The Imago｜Transformation” \n\n\nThese interactive designs offer a rich sensory journey that mirrors the evolution of each communication student. \nAll faculty\, students\, and media professionals are warmly invited to attend and step into the world of “Dreammayfly”—a shared journey of life\, creativity and storytelling.

How did I become who I am today? \nIn every “hand in hand” relationship\,we are shaped bit by bit and gradually become ourselves. \nSometimes we try so hard to live up to expectations\,yet we hardly know who we really are.Sometimes we play a role others want to see\,until a quiet moment comes\, and we ask:“Do I truly like the person I’ve become?” \nHand in Hand｜Photography Joint Exhibition captures powerful scenes of relationships in life. The extended dialogue event—“Who am I? How did I become who I am today?”invites you to reflect alongside a positive psychology coach. \nThrough storytelling and psychology\,we’ll revisit the moments that shaped us\,and understand how we became our current selves. \nThis conversation will be gentle\, honest\, and heartwarming. It’s a chance to finally hold hands with yourself. \nLet us\, through the lens of photography and the depth of the mind\,rediscover love\, and see the better version of ourselves once again.

SUMMARY:原典版 Urtext Edition《牡丹亭 The Peony Pavilion》
\nThe Urtext Version of 《The Peony Pavilion》 — Rediscovering the Beauty of Tradition \nHave you seen 《The Peony Pavilion》? Have you experienced its various adaptations? Now\, a grand Kunqu performance that returns to its origins is about to unfold! Taiwan Kunqu Opera Troupe proudly presents the Urtext Version of 《The Peony Pavilion》\, inviting you to step into the dreamlike and poetic world crafted by Tang Xianzu. \nWhy Choose the Urtext Version? \n\nAuthentic Restoration\nWe present “The Surprise Dream” in the first part and “Retrieving the Portrait” and “Secret Date” in the second\, staying true to Tang Xianzu’s urtext without adaptations or added lyrics. This ensures a faithful recreation of the classic in its entirety\, allowing you to experience the original musical structure and appreciate the charm of Tang’s exquisite writing.\nTo present a more complete narrative\, beyond these three “urtext selections”\, we have carefully arranged multiple scenes while adhering to the principle of “only omitting\, never altering” the text\, creating a coherent and fluid storyline.\nAncient Sounds\, Heard Today\nWhile achieving absolute fidelity to the original music is challenging\, we have referenced early and authoritative sources such as 《Na-shu-ying》 Kunqu Score\, striving to restore the musical essence of the time. This production highlights the graceful\, unhurried rhythm characteristic of the era.\nA Stellar Cast\n\nFirst Part: Starring the outstanding young actors of Taiwan Kunqu Opera Troupe\, who bring energy and vitality to the stage with their dynamic and expressive performances.\nSecond Part: A collaboration between seasoned Kunqu artists and Taiwan Kunqu Opera Troupe’s young stars. These experienced performers\, with their profound mastery of Kunqu and unique interpretations\, elevate the classical aesthetic to its peak\, delivering a refined and deeply moving theatrical experience.\n\n\n\nAn Invitation to You \nWhether you are a scholar of 《The Peony Pavilion》\, a dedicated Kunqu enthusiast\, or a newcomer to traditional Chinese theater\, we warmly invite you to step into the theater\, immerse yourself in Tang Xianzu’s poetic language\, and savor the timeless melodies. Through this performance\, let us explore the rhythm of life in ancient times and experience the unparalleled charm of classical art. \nThe Urtext Version of 《The Peony Pavilion》 — Listen to the true voices of the past and relive the beauty of an unaltered classic! \n報名 To apply：https://www.opentix.life/event/1899403225175740417?srsltid=AfmBOooU6-zC2bq5KIVQGz7yCpOS08uZwH6GXz772GO964DfkNbUWNsU
