MCU Taipei Campus’s Photo Club is hosting its 3rd Rising Star Cup\, with this year’s theme: “Am I Myself?” Through this somewhat abstract topic\, participants are encouraged to pick up their cameras or smartphones and explore the meaning of “self” during the shooting process. Engage in a conversation with the lens\, discover yourself and reintroduce yourself to who you are. \nThe club’s PR manager mentioned that\, compared to the previous themes of “Emotion” and “Togetherness”\, this year’s challenge is notably more difficult. Thanks to the generous sponsorship from alumni Zhang Dunzhi and Zou Likai\, the prizes have also been upgraded! The competition will award one First Prize winner\, one Gold Prize winner\, and five Excellence and Merit Award winners each. The First Prize winner will take home a brand-new GoPro 12\, while the Gold Prize winner will receive a NT$5\,000 cash award. Excellence and Merit Award winners will each receive NT$1\,000 and a Kingston 256GB memory card. \nSubmission opens on Friday\, November 1 and closes after midterms on Saturday\, November 30. DESCRIPTION:銘傳大學圖書館即將推出快閃活動「我要成為入館達人」，鼓勵同學多利用圖書館資源，活動分為兩週舉行：第一週為11/18至11/24，第二週為11/25至12/01。活動地點涵蓋台北與桃園校區，將分校區統計進館次數，兩週內分別選出進館次數最多的前五名同學。每位得獎者將獲得星巴克飲料券（價值NT$100）一張，名單將分別於11/27及12/04公布。 \n參加活動的方式簡單易行，符合資格的同學需於當週借閱實體書籍至少兩冊，並持學生證或掃描手機QR Code入館。注意！使用臨時入館證或進入台北自習室者不予計算。得獎名單將公布於圖書館粉專限時動態及網頁，得獎者需於名單公布後一週內領獎，逾期視為放棄資格。此外，外籍得獎者需繳交獎品價值20%稅金並提供居留證影本。 \n邀請全校同學熱情參與，爭當入館達人，讓閱讀成為生活的一部分，還有機會贏得精美獎品！ \nMCU Library is launching the exciting flash activity\, “Become a Library Expert” encouraging students to make full use of library resources. The activity spans two weeks: Week 1 (November 18–24) and Week 2 (November 25–December 1). It will be held at both the Taipei and Taoyuan Campuses\, with entry counts tallied separately for each campus. The top five students with the highest entry counts during each week will win a Starbucks beverage voucher (worth NT$100). Winners will be announced on November 27 and December 4 respectively. \nHow to Participate: \n\nEligible participants must borrow at least two physical books during the week.\nEntry must be logged by either presenting a student ID card or scanning the QR code via mobile upon entry.\nTemporary entry passes or visits to the Taipei self-study room will not count.\n\nWinners will be announced through the library’s social media stories and website. Prizes must be claimed within one week of the winner announcement\, or they will be forfeited. Foreign winners will need to pay a 20% tax on the prize value and provide a copy of their residence permit. \nAll students are warmly invited to join this activity. Students are invited to explore the unique balance and colors of love through creative activities. \nThis series features two workshops. The first\, “Love and Relationships: Pinecone Christmas Tree Scented Message Stand Workshop” will take place on Wednesday\, November 20\, from 18:00 to 20:00 in Room B604. In this session\, participants will create a pinecone Christmas tree\, immersing themselves in fragrance and creation to reflect on moments in love. The second\, “Let Love Flow: Alcohol Ink Glass Cup Workshop” will be held on Wednesday\, December 4\, from 18:00 to 20:00 in Room B604\, where students can use the vibrant hues of alcohol ink to design a unique glass cup\, symbolizing the dynamic nature of love. \nThese workshops aim to help students find a comfortable balance in their romantic relationships\, encouraging them to appreciate the diversity and individuality of love through hands-on creative activities. This event is scheduled for Wednesday\, December 11\, from 10:10 to 11:40 in B901 on Taipei Campus. \nThe lecture will feature a guest speaker from The Society of Wilderness\, who will guide participants through the diverse natural landscapes and cultural heritage across Taiwan’s regions. By integrating education\, natural ecology\, and local history\, the session aims to deepen understanding of ecological conservation while inspiring sustainable living practices. \nThe lecture will be held in person and simultaneously streamed online via Teams for colleagues from Taipei\, Jihe\, Taoyuan and Kinmen Campuses (the Teams link will be emailed on December 10). DESCRIPTION:對戶外求生有興趣或是想提升野外生存能力的同學看過來，野營登山社11月份的野外挑戰課程來了！課程日期在11/23（六）與11/30（六），活動時間皆為09:00-09:30報到，09:30-16:30上課，地點在S208，中午有提供休息時間，參與者可選擇自行準備或代訂便當，代訂便當者需繳交NT$100。 \n11月份的課程為：11/23（六）野外實用技巧篇與11/30（六）野外住宿方式篇。實用技巧篇主要在學習繩結技巧與工具使用，還有水源的採集與過濾。住宿方式篇意在使參與者了解天幕架設、火的使用，以及搭建緊急避難屋。本次課程由台中山野教育團隊講師主導，針對野外生存技能提供全方位的訓練。 \n此外，本場活動不限制身份，若為校外人士，野營登山社會安排指引員協助，確保活動順利進行。對活動有興趣或有想報名的同學，可到野營登山社專頁【mcu_outdoors_club】查詢詳細資訊。 \nIf you’re interested in outdoor survival or wish to enhance your wilderness skills\, don’t miss the Outdoors Club’s November Wilderness Challenge Courses! SUMMARY:器—天地人之器 Cabinet of Curious Containers
DESCRIPTION:從鬼斧神工的自然之器，到巧奪天工的人造之器，一覽天、地、人共筆而出的造物傳奇。 \n《說文解字》中記載「器，皿也。象器之口，犬所以守之。」意指器字中象徵器皿的四個口，由中央的犬來守護。「器」的本義是各種用具的總稱，衍生而出的意涵眾多，從有形的器物、器官，到無形的器宇、器重等，進而延伸出無數科學、藝術與哲學的探討，足以顯見器在人類文明與生活中的無所不在。 \n自開天闢地乃至人類起源的神話，都記載著與自然之器有關的遠古傳說，人類由最初的以手為器，掬水而飲，而後發現草葉、葫蘆、貝殼等自然物可為器，再逐漸進入已知造器的時代，一步步地由運用神奇的自然物，到製作精巧的人工物，創造各種容器、食器、茶器、禮器……建構出千變萬化的器皿世界。 \n茶，既是生活，也是文化，在歷代製茶及茗飲方式的發展中，茶器也隨之百變，寫下了一部豐富迷人的器物史。而隨著經貿交流及東茶西傳，源於東方的瓷器亦跨越了千年萬里時空，流傳到全球各地，融入古往今來無數人的心血，逐漸滋長成今日的多元樣貌。 \n「器—天地人之器」特展，從遠古的神話出發，探討器的起源與發展，發掘自然之器的神奇與奧妙，鑑賞人造之器的精巧與創意，揭開茶器文化背後不為人知的傳奇，以詩意的視角層層解析器的種種不可思議，深度感受天、地、人之器無比奇幻的迷人魔力。 \nFrom the awe-inspiring natural creations to the intricately crafted man-made artifacts\, this exhibition presents the remarkable collaboration between heaven\, earth\, and humanity in the story of creation. \nIn the ancient text Shuowen Jiezi\, the word “qi” (器) is described as “a vessel\, resembling the mouth of a container\, guarded by a dog”. This refers to the four mouths symbolizing the vessel\, with a dog at the center to guard it. The original meaning of “qi” encompasses all kinds of tools\, but its significance has expanded over time to include not only tangible objects like tools and organs but also abstract concepts such as a person’s bearing or authority.
