Commercial Design Art Gallery: Alumni Hsien Ni Ping's Painting Exhibition
\nFrom now until October 7\, the 3rd-floor “Gallery” at MCU Taoyuan Campus is hosting a painting exhibition titled “Together Forever” by alumni Hsien Ni Ping from Department of Commercial Design. The artist has personally curated a selection of her most cherished and meaningful works for the exhibition\, and students and faculty are welcome to visit the gallery for free. \nHsien Ni Ping\, born in 1984 in Taoyuan\, Taiwan\, is a visual artist. After graduating from MCU’s Department of Commercial Design in 2006\, she furthered her studies at the University of the Arts London\, Camberwell College of Arts\, earning an MA in Illustration. Early in her career\, she focused on graphic design and illustration\, with many of her paintings drawing from personal life experiences\, particularly those of women. Over time\, she shifted her focus to visual arts\, influenced by feminism\, and addressing women’s issues through the lens of contemporary societal challenges. Through her work\, she seeks to convey themes of spirituality and freedom of thought. \nIn 2023\, Ping Xian-Ni debuted her personal creation\, the character “Bao”\, in real life during the Taiwan Female Artists Association’s presentation at the Taipei Fashion Week. “Bao” is intended to symbolize women’s free will\, depicted as a gentle female figure. Through her visual art\, she uses “Bao” to express the themes of freedom and maternal love\, reflecting these ideas across various media and paintings. \nSeveral of the works exhibited at  Gallery come from her 2019 solo exhibition\, “Tales of Love”. In these pieces\, she explores the interplay between human emotions and relationships\, using the universal appeal and symbolism of classic fairy tales and the exploration of human and divine nature found in Western mythology. These works emphasize the different facets of love\, ultimately returning to the core belief in the beauty and goodness of love\, with the message that love and kindness are the most important elements for sustaining the world—a theme central to her artistic philosophy. \nIn a Facebook post\, Hsien Ni Ping shared her deep sense of gratitude for her time at MCU’s Department of Commercial Design and the support she received from many people along her journey. Now\, returning to her alma mater with the opportunity to exhibit her work\, she hopes to convey themes of “romantic redemption” and “What Remains Behind”. Much like in the story of The Wizard of Oz\, where unity and belief are essential\, she wishes to express that life’s path or pursuit of dreams is something that can be walked further and more beautifully when shared with others. \nThe series “What Remains Behind” further conveys the idea that life is fleeting. However\, through the passage of time\, while the original forms may fade\, the positive spirit and ideas endure forever in our hearts. Therefore\, the exhibition is titled “Together Forever”\, reflecting the everlasting connection between her heart and MCU.

Department of Radio and TV Photography Graduation Exhibition "All in One" | October 5-17 at Zhongshan Hall\, Taipei
\nThe “All in One” photography graduation exhibition by the Department of Radio and TV at MCU will be held from October 5 to 17 at the first and second exhibition rooms of Zhongshan Hall\, Taipei. Photographer Cheung Ming-Chun\, originally from Hong Kong\, presents experimental photography artworks\, using abstract expressionism techniques. With vibrant colors and spontaneous bursts of emotion\, the work explores a fusion of feelings\, encouraging viewers to observe and reflect on the instantaneous impact of emotions. The series has been recognized by the International Photography Awards (IPA)\, earning an Official Selection for 2024. \nCheung Ming-Chun began his photography journey in middle school when he joined the photography club and first picked up a camera. In his third year of middle school\, he studied under professional photographer Zulu Lo (a member of the Hong Kong Professional Photographers Network\, HKPPN\, and Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society\, RPS). During high school\, Cheung focused on sports photography and gradually transitioned into commercial photography\, capturing portraits of athletes. His background in music\, which he studied from a young age\, allowed him to frequently participate in concert and stage photography. \nAfter graduating from high school\, Cheung moved from Hong Kong to Taiwan to study in the Department of Radio and TV at MCU. In his sophomore year\, he documented the table tennis event at the National High School Games (All Taiwan Games). His work from this event received the Honorable Mention and Official Selection at the 2023 IPA International Photography Awards. In his junior year\, he was named a Canon Campus Photography Ambassador. His 2024 graduation project “All in One” earned another Official Selection at the IPA Awards. \nThe “All in One” exhibition is based on the theme of emotions\, aiming to showcase the diversity of emotional experiences. Positive and negative emotions coexist and depend on one another. These emotions blend into a unified whole\, inseparable from each other. Human emotional experiences are diverse\, and it is this diversity that makes us complete. In this photography series\, Cheung explores the use of color to portray human emotions\, employing abstract expressionism to illustrate the fusion of these feelings. He hopes viewers can take their time to observe and re-examine how they cope with various emotions. \nThis graduation exhibition will feature 44 works\, divided into five chapters\, showcasing Cheung’s journey as a photographer. Beginning with his earlier works\, the chapters trace his life from growing up in the bustling city of Hong Kong\, his uncertainty about the future before finishing high school\, his adaptation to life in Taiwan\, and his personal growth. Now\, as a senior in college\, he has finally found his path and direction. \nThe first chapter captures the bustling landscape of Hong Kong\, featuring Lion Rock and the cityscape bathed in the glow of thousands of lights. \nIn this chapter\, Cheung focuses on confusion\, portraying the sense of uncertainty that he and Hong Kong faced during his high school years. \nAfter graduating high school\, Cheung left Hong Kong to begin his university life in Taiwan. The third chapter depicts his emotions as he moved forward from Hong Kong. Rather than focusing on “leaving”\, the chapter emphasizes “moving forward”\, a sentiment shared by many students who leave their hometowns for university. \nAfter moving to Taiwan\, Cheung took a long time to adjust to his new life. During this time\, he missed the piano in his home. Having studied music from a young age\, music brought him a sense of peace. As he adapted to life in Taiwan\, he steadily worked toward his goals. \nThrough his four years of university\, Cheung has gained much and found his direction during a period of calm. The primary image in the fifth chapter was taken at Wuling\, Taiwan’s highest peak that Cheung has climbed to date. This represents the highest point he has reached so far in his life. As the saying goes\, “there is always a higher mountain”. Cheung continues to look ahead and move forward\, even as he finds his path.

Through this collaboration\, Ted\, who also has a background in hosting\, will offer his professional and engaging insights into the history and context of Hakka cuisine\, making it an enjoyable experience for everyone. Do you have an animal friend? Bleu & Book is about to host a series of lectures for our animal friends! You are welcome to invite your furry companions to join the activities at the bookstore! Meow Meow\, Woof Woof! \nDid you know that every year\, September 9th is Dog Day? (Because the number 9 sounds like “dog” in Taiwanese.) Since 2020\, September has been designated as Animal Protection Month in northern Taiwan\, focusing on themes such as “One Health” and World Rabies Day—important days for animals! \nThe first half of My Dear Animal Friends Lecture Series will dive deep into topics like animal protection\, animal welfare\, animal rights\, and respect for life\, with the aim of spreading knowledge about animal protection and teaching us how to coexist peacefully with animals. Together\, we can create a friendly environment for both people and animals\, treating every precious life with kindness and love. \nThe second half will focus on the emotional bonds between humans and animals. It began as a party for gay people where people would initially walk the runway and compete in beauty contests. Later\, through continuous imitation of models’ fashion poses\, it evolved into the popular music and fashion culture known as Vogueing. \n在比賽場域中，比起輸贏，主辦者更在乎的是建立一個能讓LGBTQ+族群（變裝皇后、男同性戀、或跨性別等多元性少數族群）放心展現自己樣貌的空間，但這不限於性少數者們參加，你可以在這裡大肆耍辣／耍酷、穿恨天高的高跟鞋、畫誇張的妝，穿梭於 陽剛／陰柔 兩者之間 ，在Ballroom裡得到的掌聲與歡呼，將化作我們在殘酷現實社會中，面對各種異樣眼光的力量✨ \nIn the competition arena\, rather than focusing on winning or losing\, the organizers are more concerned with creating a space where the LGBTQ+ community (including drag queens\, gay men\, transgender individuals\, and other diverse minorities) can safely express their true selves. This space is not limited to sexual minorities; anyone can come here to flaunt their style\, wear high heels\, apply bold makeup\, and move between masculinity and femininity. The applause and cheers received in the Ballroom turn into the strength we need to face various judgments and discrimination in the harsh reality of society. \nThis event will feature Chachou Wang Miyake Mugler\, a renowned Vogueing dancer from Paris\, as one of the judges\, adding an international flair to the ballroom. We will also have Yolanda Mesula\, the drag queen who recently won the Drag Arena in Thailand\, and Feilibing Ice Queen\, a seasoned drag queen in Taiwan with 15 years of experience. Additionally\, Ophelia Wind\, the daughter of the recently crowned RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 champion\, will be joining as a judge for the Lip Sync competition. This lineup promises to elevate the drag competition scene in Taiwan to a new and exciting level! Please check in at the reception desk 30 minutes before the event starts! The online ticketing system can support the transfer function \n⚠️⚠️⚠️禁止酒駕，酒後不開車，安全有保障⚠️⚠️⚠️\nDriving After Drinking is Prohibited. Do not drive after drinking\, stay safe\n⚠️⚠️⚠️未滿18歲請勿飲酒⚠️⚠️⚠️\nDrinking is prohibited if under 18 years old \n〖 𝐕𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐦𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 〗\n——— 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐮 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐫 🇫🇷\n@chachoudepartout \n歐洲Ballroom中極具影響力和創意的Vogueing舞者終於要來亞洲了！ \nThe most influential and creative Vogueing dancer in European ballroom is finally coming to Asia! Double Bill: “Deconstruct”&”Crack"
\n\nThese two dance pieces explore various dimensions of individuals radiating in contemporary life. Delving into interpersonal rifts\, they investigate the origins of relational transformation; can deconstructing and reassembling life constructs a better version of oneself? \nPerhaps we believe ourselves to be the master controllers of all things by now\, yet seemingly fixed states never cease to flow and generate. \nIs our fate predetermined or devoid of conclusion? Is who we are destined or shaped by others? Now on Sale：https://www.opentix.life/event/1821144837970530305 \n製作團隊 Production Team \n藝術總監暨編舞者《裂》Artistic Director and Choreographer for “Crack”｜蔡博丞 TSAI\, Po-Cheng \n客席編舞者《拆》Guest Choreographer for ”Deconstruct”｜張堅志 CHANG\, Chien-Chih \n舞者Dancers｜張堅志 CHANG\, Chien-Chih、羅立安 LI\, An-Ro、周新杰 CHOU\, Hsin-Chieh 、曾祥輔 ZENG\, Siang-Fu、張鶴千 CHANG\, Ho-Chien、王昱閎 WANG\, Yu-Hung、吳祐麒 WU\, Yu-Chi、曾行 TSENG\, Hsin、黃芃睿 HUANG\, Peng-Ruei、劉明軒 LIU\, Ming-Hsuan、張瑀 CHANG\, Yu、葉書涵 YEH\, Shu-Han、廖婕妤 LIAO\, Chieh-Yu、謝知穎 HSIEH\, Chih-Ying \n燈光設計暨技術總監Lighting Designer＆Technical Director｜劉志晨 LIU\, Chih-Chen \n美術設計Graphic Designer｜王富生 WANG\, Johnson \n服裝設計《裂》Costume Designer for “Crack”｜李嘉泉 Poor Lee \n製作統籌Production Coordinator｜易彥伶 YI\, Yen-Ling \n製作人Producer｜孫佳芳 SUN\, Chia-Fang \n排練總監Rehearsal Director｜張聖和 CHANG\, Sheng-Ho \n行銷整合Marketing Integration Manager｜廖冠翔 LIAO\, Kuan-Shiang \n動態紀錄Videographer｜何孟學 HO\, Meng-Hsueh \n平面紀錄Photographer｜何肇昇 HO\, Chao-Sheng \n形象拍攝Image Photographer｜周墨 CHOU\, Mo \n\n藝術家介紹 Artist Introduction \n編舞者《拆》Choreographer of ”Deconstruct”｜張堅志 \n國立臺北藝術大學舞蹈創作研究所碩士，長弓舞蹈劇場藝術總監。 \n“Deconstruct” by CHANG\, Chien-Chih \nMaster’s degree from the Graduate Institute of Dance Choreography at Taipei National University of the Arts\, Artistic Director of Chang Dance Theatre.
