Design Retreat: UX設計產業與職涯的反思 Reflections on Our UX Design Careers & Industry

Retreat在這取靜修之意。我們希望舉辦一個小而接近的討論會，以讓參與者能沈澱與反思。

UX產業近期在歐美遭遇比較大的挫折，大量的裁員、困難的就業市場況，這是我們這一代設計師面對的十年未見之變。在安靜地沉潛的同時，這是很合適重新檢視設計實務的時候，設計到底哪些做不夠好？並且能夠重新回顧我們的成長，設計師應該怎麼調整？

在這一段時間，我們想要反省過去發生的事情，重新檢視自己成長，並且期待著更好的未來，在產業再起時做好準備。

除了演講和問答外，我們最後也會舉工作坊，讓議題討論能夠貼切大家的狀況，有產出才有更有效的討論。

The term “Retreat” here signifies a space for reflection and introspection. We aim to create a small, intimate gathering where participants can take a step back and reassess their careers and the industry.

The UX industry has faced major setbacks recently, especially in Europe and North America, with mass layoffs and a challenging job market. This is an unprecedented shift for our generation of designers. As we navigate these uncertain times, it’s an opportunity to re-evaluate our design practices—what hasn’t been done well? How can we adjust and grow as designers?

During this retreat, we will reflect on past events, assess our growth and prepare for the industry’s revival when the time comes.

Beyond talks and Q&A sessions, we will conclude with a workshop to facilitate practical discussions that resonate with participants’ experiences—ensuring a productive and meaningful conversation.

這一次我們邀請到兩位設計師進行分享：

《我們在UX產業泡沫時爆炸 Exploding in the UX Bubble》古念華 Nien-Hua Gu

2021時，那是歐美UX產業最好的時候，推陳出新的設計做法，跳槽即加薪，大量設計團隊擴充與建立，這是一個利用想像力定義設計未來的時代。然而僅只兩年的時間，大環境匹變。我覺得這是一個去反省過去不切實際理想的時候。反省產業的天真，也反省自己的過度自信。

Back in 2021, the UX industry was thriving—new methodologies were emerging, salary increases were frequent, and design teams were rapidly expanding. It was an era where imagination defined the future of design. Yet, in just two years, everything changed.

Now is the time for introspection—to reflect on the unrealistic ideals we once held, the naïveté of the industry, and even our own overconfidence.

In this talk, Howard will share insights from his experience as a design mentor and practitioner, discussing how to define and pursue meaningful growth in the design field.

來自港都鹿特丹的GU Design設計工作室。前殼牌資深設計師、前荷蘭互動設計協會理事、並共同主持過設計遊牧。活躍於台灣及荷蘭設計社群，曾演講於UX Camp Europe、UX Camp Amsterdam、台灣設計研究院（台灣設計力之夜、設計策略 × 數位轉型）、台灣互動設計協會。畢業於荷蘭TU Delft策略產品設計所。

Howard

Design Manager/ Consultant/ Mentor

設計導師、團隊領導者、一位自學並國際遊牧的實踐者。樂於擁抱變化，擅長結合系統思考與設計思考，將產品和服務從構思到執行及實現，同時建立企業文化，讓團隊能更有效率的持續產出及成長。目前在一家startup公司Phase擔任Design Manager，與優秀的夥伴們打造革命性Digital UI編輯工具。

有著工程背景、服務設計專業、專案產品管理和顧問經驗，曾在IBM、NEC等大型企業開發設計產品及企業規模解決方案，也有許多新創公司開發SaaS及Fintech產品之經驗。堅信分享知識的力量及教育的重要性，著迷於優化流程及自動化。不時推廣敏捷開發並擔當教練，同時在Designlab及IDF平台擔任設計導師和顧問。
