To align with global trends and support local young designers, Department of Youth Affairs, Taoyuan City Government, in collaboration with MCU, is hosting the 2024 Taoyuan Youth Design Exhibition & Design Forum. Under the theme “Designing the Future”, this event will promote international perspectives, exchange and collaboration through the lens of design. The exhibition will be held from November 10 to 18 at Messe Taoyuan, featuring participation from six countries—United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, Japan and Vietnam—as well as five domestic universities, three vocational high schools, and two emerging design studios. A total of 87 design works will be showcased, and the public is encouraged to attend.

The event will include keynote speeches by international experts and two focused panel discussions to inspire creativity among young designers and promote international design exchange. The Opening Ceremony and International Design Forum will take place on November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Messe Taoyuan. Among the international speakers are:

  • Celia Mead, Director from London, UK, who will highlight the prominent London exhibition, Open House.
  • Andrew Ananda Voogel from California, currently based in Jeju, South Korea, who will discuss how design and creativity can address the global issue of plastic pollution.

The Chief Curator, Dr. Jeanne Lee, Associate Dean of the School of Design at MCU, noted that the forum is not only a platform for sharing knowledge and experience but also a chance for cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration. Designers from diverse backgrounds will come together to spark new inspiration and creativity through the universal language of design.

To foster international connections and support local youth and students in design departments at high schools and universities, the event will feature the Taoyuan Youth Design Exhibition.
