To enhance international mobility and expand overseas sports teaching resources, as well as to strengthen sports education exchanges with sister schools, MCU’s Office of Physical Educations, with support from the Higher Education Sprout Project, has planned the “Japan Sports Education Skiing Training Camp and Industrial University Visit Exchange”. This program, in collaboration with Department of Applied Japanese, Department of Leisure and Recreation Management, and Japan’s Industrial University, is scheduled to take place from February 3-8, 2025, at Japan’s Industrial University. The camp will involve six days and five nights of skiing training.
The program is set to recruit 20 students, and in previous years, registration has been extremely competitive, filling up quickly once announced. Students interested in participating are encouraged to sign up soon!
According to Mr. Huang Han-Nien, head of Japanese Section at IEE, one of the unique features of this sports teaching exchange camp is that it offers an official skiing training course shared between MCU and Japan’s Industrial University. This allows students to experience sports education in a different cultural setting while earning credit for 12 hours of physical education in the second semester of 2024 academic year.
Another highlight is that the ski resort for the training is the famous Kagura Ski Resort in Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Here, participants will not only learn skiing techniques but also take the “Beginner Skiing Certification Exam” before the course concludes. Based on past experiences, nearly all Ming Chuan students, even those new to skiing, have successfully passed the exam under the guidance of professional instructors at Industrial University, receiving their skiing certification.
Mr. Huang added that this training visit is a collaborative effort between Office of Physical Educations, Applied Japanese Department, and Leisure and Recreation Management Department, aimed at expanding international cooperation within the university and increasing the potential for recruitment from external sources.
