在古時期的日本，瀨戶內海地區即是往來關西沿岸及九州的重要樞紐，同時也是對外其他國家的必經要道，因此乘載著許多關於海的故事與文化。 在時間與日本城鄉發展的推移之下，青年人口的外移讓原本活力蓬勃的國度逐漸消停，直至2010年瀨戶內海藝術祭的開展，才讓這一處被遺忘的島國境地，再一次以海之藝術的優美姿態，成為人們養分與能量的「希望之島」。

In ancient Japan, the Seto Inland Sea region was a vital hub connecting the Kansai coast and Kyushu, as well as a key gateway for foreign trade. This area, rich with stories and cultures of the sea, witnessed its vibrancy fade over time due to the migration of young people to urban centers. However, with the launch of the Setouchi Triennale in 2010, this forgotten island region once again emerged, now as a “Hope Island”, filled with the beauty of sea-inspired art and creativity.
For those eager to witness the masterpieces of renowned artists such as Tadao Ando and Yayoi Kusama, and to experience the revival of local culture, don’t miss the upcoming 2025 Setouchi Triennale!
