2026 Taipei International Book Exhibition: “Oh! So Wonderful!”

Thailand as Guest of Honor — Exploring the Boundless Magic of Reading

The 2026 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE), organized by the Ministry of Culture and coordinated by the Taipei Book Fair Foundation, will take place from February 3 to February 8, 2026, at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Exhibition Hall 1.

Under the theme “Reading is Oh! So Wonderful” (閱讀泰精彩), this year’s fair welcomes Thailand as the Guest of Honor. The Ministry of Culture held a press conference today (Jan 21) to unveil the vibrant lineup of themed pavilions and specialized book zones.

🌟 2026 TIBE Highlights: A Treasure Trove of Knowledge

TIBE serves as a multi-functional platform for exhibition, sales, and interaction. This year, the curated pavilions reflect contemporary social issues and publishing trends:

  • Children’s Pavilion: “The Reading Market” Inspired by traditional wet markets, this zone creates a warm, imaginative “Reading Market.” Families can “shop” for diverse children’s books, creating a personalized reading list in a setting that brings literature into everyday life.

  • Digital Pavilion: “Echoes of Me and Books” Located on the 2nd floor, this pavilion focuses on “Sound.” Using AI voice recognition and image generation, visitors can transform their recitations or dialogues into unique real-time visual art. The space also features local botanical fragrances, creating an immersive sensory experience of sight, sound, and scent.

  • Taiwan Comic Pavilion: “Be a Star-Chaser!” In collaboration with Creative Comic Collection (CCC), LINE WEBTOON, MOJOIN, and Renta!, this pavilion invites readers to follow original Taiwan comics like fans following pop stars. It features digital experiences and talks with creators.

  • Literary Zone: “Free Your Mind, Travel with Words” Curated by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, this zone focuses on Travel Literature, showcasing nearly 100 works that document a century of movement, foreign encounters, and life experiences.

🛣️ The “Civil Book Zone”: Roads to the Future

Integrating independent publishers, NGOs, and bookstores, this zone uses the metaphor of “The Road” to observe society:

  • “Read-Traffic Jam”: An installation by the Indie Publishers Alliance where “traffic jams” become moments for reflection and imaginative breakthroughs through 70+ sessions.

  • “Reading Traffic Lights”: Presented by the Taiwan Labour Front, symbolizing milestones in Taiwan’s democratic development.

  • “Reading Transit Station”: Hosted by the Taiwan Independent Bookstore Culture Association, featuring five curated reading routes and over 100 selected titles.

🖋️ 2026 Reading Ambassadors

This year, the fair is honored to have two national treasures as Ambassadors:

  1. Huang Chun-ming: The 92-year-old legendary writer.

  2. Lai Ma: The cross-generational picture book master. Both will showcase their curated “Top 10 Recommendations” at the fair’s rest areas, bridging the gap between generations through text and imagery.

🎁 Exclusive Offers & Incentives

  • Culture Points (Youth): For 2026, the “Culture Points” for ages 13–15 has been doubled from 600 to 1,200 points—perfect for buying books for the Lunar New Year.

  • Lucky Draws: Daily chances to win round-trip economy tickets to Thailand, hotel vouchers, and symbolic “Blessing Lamps” (光明燈) from famous local temples.

  • Free Entry:
