To promote indigenous culture and research on architectural settlements, Taipei Campus Library will host a book talk on Monday, June 30, from 13:30 to 15:30 in Conference Room E402. The featured speaker is Professor Huei-Min Lu, author of The Indigenous Settlements along Sheluxi Creek. Drawing from years of fieldwork and academic research, Professor Lu will vividly present the cultural landscape, settlement memory and architectural resilience of traditional Paiwan communities, offering participants a deeper understanding of the indigenous knowledge systems and spatial wisdom embedded in these old settlements.

The talk, titled “Resilience and Migratory Memory in Mountain Settlements: The Indigenous Settlements along Sheluxi Creek”, will explore themes such as spatial layout, ecological thinking and the reconstruction of chieftain’s house. It highlights Paiwan people’s traditional wisdom and cultural heritage shaped by life in forested mountain regions. As global awareness of cultural preservation and biodiversity increases, the architectural techniques and settlement systems of indigenous communities are gaining recognition for their significant value.

This event is limited to 40 participants. Faculty and staff who attend the entire session will receive official training hour certification. Light refreshments will be provided after the event.

Faculty and students interested in indigenous culture, history and ecology are warmly invited to participate.
